This afternoon we have learned that Jason Prior has been invited to train with Newcastle United, with a view to a possible transfer.

Despite the fact that we have what we consider to be a binding agreement with Bognor Regis FC for the transfer of Jason, we are led to believe that they have given permission for him to train with NUFC. If this is the case, It obviously contravenes our agreement, and we will consider that to be a breach of the contract between us.

However, we do understand that the player will be attracted to a Premiership Football Club - and for that reason we will not attempt to enforce the pre-contract agreement with the player. We will however discuss the matter of any breach of contract with Bognor Regis FC with the FA in due course.

Whilst I'm all for signing up and coming talent, we really need a defender who's ready to play in the PL.

I'd be happy with a promising centre back who could provide cover in the short term. With Williamson back it's not as if a young lad would be forced into playing immediately.
