On SSN, when asked about how we are looking ahead of saturday, he said we look good, Obertan's signing is great news, and there is some more good news to come. Maybe a reference to a signing or maybe Joey staying?

While Gabriel Obertan was completing the formalities of his transfer at Darsley Park on Monday, yet another French- speaking player was attempting to earn a deal with United in a training ground reserve friendly.

The as-yet un-named forward played 45 minutes, netting once in what was an 8-2 romp over a less experienced smoggy XI. Also on the scoresheet were Phil Airey (2), Sam Ameobi (2), Nile Ranger, Jeff Henderson and an OG.

Kuqi esque no doubt. If he managed to get to the ground and onto the pitch unnoticed its a bad sign. in fact wouldnt surprise me if it is Kuqi.

In The People two days ago -

NEWCASTLE, meanwhile, are chasing Peruvian starlet Paolo Hurtado – the new Nobby Solano – as Joey Barton’s potential replacement.

The Toon have been tracking the Alianza Lima attacker for months after seeing him play for his country’s Under-20 side and they are teeing up a deal.

Hurtado plays in the same position with a similar style to Geordie hero Solano.

There will certainly be problems obtaining a work permit but the Magpies are researching to see if Hurtado, 20, has a European background so that he can qualify under those rules.

Should be off now anyway.

had a deal agreed a few years back apparently but keegan said no.

definite yes from my point of view, quickish, quite strong, good technique and in the air and most importantly for a striker, an eye for where to be.

edit...may i qualify this by saying i'd find it highly unlikely though.
