Guest Stephen927
Did well in the 06-07 season, that's it. Would never call him a top professional after that display at Wembley.
ponsaelius
Good news that the club is looking to offload the likes of Butt and isn't going to just rely on 'Experienced Campaigners' next season. I never want to see us buy a player for 'experience' ever again. The idea the 'experience' is beneficial is a complete fallacy 95% of the time. Dave
Great news if true. I don't wish him any ill though, even if he is utter gash.
Dave
Oh, and good on Hughton for first dropping him then deciding he's not good enough.
Colocho
And to think outsiders see him as an important part of our squad (see why Newcastle will struggle in the EPL thread).

This should be stencilled around the Boardroom walls in 2 foot high letters lest anyone in charge ever forget the reason we nearly went the way of Leeds. Wallace
He did an interview recently where he was discussing his options and he said that ex players had advised him to play for as long as he could as he would regret it once he had retired. He accepted that it was unlikely to be in the Premier League but thought he could still do a job in the Championship.

Shame he has the playing ability of chlamydia-ridden warthog tbh.

cubaricho
Seeing some of the hate in here about Butt is pretty facepalm worthy. Didn't set the world alight but is an honest pro that never stepped out of line while here. Yeah, his performances weren't great but at least he didn't break anyone's jaw or glass anyone in a bar during his time here. Another model pro who just gets on with business. So you don't care about the 50k a week the club wasted on him for so long?
Doctor Zaius
The last of the failed generation that saw us go from a potential champions league regulars, to mid table mediocrity under Souness. Brought in to replace Gary Speed, a good signing on paper, however it turned out to be one of SBR's poorer signings. He had a really good season in 06/07 where i think he won the clubs player of the year, but other than that, a major disappointment on the whole.
