Raconteur
"Their midfielders at this World Cup were Melo, Gilberto Silva, Kleberson, Ramires. There's a serious lack of creativity in that lot" Yet how many attacking Brazilian fullbacks can you think of though? Aye, loads: Maicon, Dani Alves, Maxwell, Marcelo, Aurelio, Andre Santos, Kleber, Filipe Luis, Fabio, Rafael, Cicinho, Adriano, Bastos. In the past Cafu, Roberto Carlos, Carlos Alberto etc.. Which is true but then again haven't Brazil have always have a history of attacking full backs? They've also had a long history of great ball playing midfielders, which they definitely don't atm. I literally can't think of a genuine central midfielder they have. At the moment I can think of Gilberto Silva, Melo, Ramires, Thiago Motta, Lucas, Josue, Sandro...there's no Socrates, Rivelino, Zico types around. One player to look out for is Paolo Henrique Ganso of Santos.....I think Neymar is a bit overhyped but Ganso looks the real deal....a proper playmaker that Brazil have been lacking in producing in recent years. Aye there was a bit of outrage Dunga didn't select him for the WC2010 squad. He looks a talented individual. With him and Neymar (and all young Brazillians) it'll be interesting to see what happens when they move to Europe. Funny - I was just reading Vickery's article with a heavy emphasis on Ganso and Neymar. Worth a read if you can handle his style: http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/timvickery/2010/07/spain_or_barcelona_no_contest.html
dcmk
Is that some Spanish sign of affection or is he simply a huge tosspot? Most Spanish are wankers, surprised that so many people supported them after England was knocked out. The Spanish Basketball team photo for the 2008 Beijing Olympics, sums the nation up. Guest Stephen927
I appreciated their football but I didn't support them because of that racist shite some fans pulled when we played them. Still stays in the memory for me. EDIT: I should add not the most recent friendly, but the one where that idiot Aragones was in charge.

ponsaelius
^^^ Aye, that's the one Disco. If you've got an iPod or owt you can subscribe to it on iTunes. Or just download the file straight onto you PC. Basically they have a South American, European, North American, African and Asian expert - along with other random guests at times. Usually have 2-3 of them on at a time and just take calls and e-mails about certain players, tactics, teams, and other s**** like that. Easy listening if you're on a journey on a bus/train. Comes out on Podcast on every Saturday, not long after the original broadcast.

Kaizero
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/northkorea/7918468/North-Korean-football-team-shamed-in-six-hour-public-inquiry-over-World-Cup.html North Korea's football team has been shamed in a six-hour public inquisition and the team's coach has been accused of "betraying" the reclusive leader's heir apparent following their failure at the World Cup, according to reports. The entire squad was forced onto a stage at the People's Palace of Culture and subjected to criticism from Pak Myong-chol, the sports minister, as 400 government officials, students and journalists watched. The players were subjected to a "grand debate" on July 2 because they failed in their "ideological struggle" to succeed in South Africa, Radio Free Asia and South Korean media reported. The team's coach, Kim Jong-hun, was reportedly forced to become a builder and has been expelled from the Workers' Party of Korea. The coach was punished for "betraying" Kim Jong-un - one of Supreme Leader Kim Jong-il's sons and heir apparent. The country, in its first World Cup since 1966, lost all three group games – including a 7-0 defeat to Portugal. The broadcast of live games had been banned to avoid national embarrassment, but after the spirited 2-1 defeat to Brazil, state television made the Portugal game its first live sports broadcast ever. Following ideological criticism, the players were then allegedly forced to blame the coach for their defeats. Only two players avoided the inquisition - Japanese-born Jong Tae-se and An Yong-hak, who flew straight to Japan after the tournament. However, media in South Korea said the players got off lightly by North Korean standards. "In the past, North Korean athletes and coaches who performed badly were sent to prison camps," a South Korean intelligence source told the Chosun Ilbo newspaper. A country like that (with a dictator having the power) should not be allowed at a world cup imo.

LiquidAK
That would be fucking awful. Draws are a part of the game, would wreck the group stages if it was all or nothing in every game, the groups would be decided too soon.
M4
Hardly surprising. As he seriously considers goal line technology, Blatter also has a bad decision quota to maintain.
