Mowen
Kaká has had a s*** season at Madrid, he has a chronic groin injury and barely trained for them. He's finished as a world class player in my opinion. Come on? Really? Shit season? Maybe to his standards, but he's definetely had a better season than many at Real. Regarding the Maicon goal, not saying this was with intent but he has done several times at Inter Great goal, and it was meant to be. It was never an intended goal. Look again. He looks across to see who's in the box and tries to bend it away from the keeper with his instep but ends up basically toe-punting it. Yeah. Top class if he had meant it but there's just no way. Cronky
Worst punditry ever on ITV right now. It seems to die on its arse every night. Adrian Charles tries to be a cheeky chappie but the atmosphere isn't right and no-one responds. Vieira and Davids talk in monotones. Southgate is okay but he's not a person who can liven things up. As for Kevin, I know he doesn't like watching football any more but he can at least try and look enthusiastic.
Ketsbaia
Really enjoyed tonights game, but I'm surprised everyone thinks Brazil played badly. Considering the opposition 'parked the bus' I really enjoyed their play. But Korea's goal will be one of this tournament's great memories, honestly who didn't smile when that went in? With this match and the Spain/Chile matches tomorrow, hopefully the WC is now properly underway. Jong Tae-Se I was in hysterics when he cried, but we could do with that passion tbh. Were you watching, Hughton? He has a wonderful attitude
johnnypd
I generally don't care how England do anymore, I just hope this tournament takes off. I'm sure most would agree. i sort of agree. i still want england to do well but the major pull of the world cup is the spectacle, seeing all the different sides play, watching some good football, controversy, dramatic moments etc. that's just as important as supporting england for me. Actually completely forgot about that.. still seems a bit of an unfair advantage certain leagues got to use the ball well in advance.

Same in La Liga, Nike sponsors the ball. Pretty stupid when you think of it, a sponsor deal potentially harming the country's WC chances.

Mike
A Continent XI vs Continent XI tournament every couple of years would be class. Although it would never really work or ever happen, still. Brazil + Messi + Tim Howard vs Spain + Ronaldo. Are you serious? Wtf is Tim Howard doing there? I'm American, man. I'm biased. 3rd best keeper. They don't want to hear that! We both know he's No. 1. ponsaelius
I read on another website that Jong Tae-Se has South Korean citizenship aswell, although I'm not sure how accurate that is. Wigan are apparently after him and Martinez has been watching him for ages.

Huge fan of the Questra ball myself. It was very popular in Spain for some reason in the 1990s.

The Japanese government very rarely allows Koreans (if at all) to hold Japanese passports .....only permanent residence visas. I have been living in Japan previously and this is what I was told by the Koreans living there. Actually they rarely give passports to any non Japanese. Even if he did have a Japanese passport it would make no difference. He hasn't appeared for the Japanese national team has he in 70% of their games. He has a South Korean passport but like you said it doesn't matter because he's been playing for the North Korean national team. When he was on trial for Blackburn previously I believe there was also some concern that the Home Office would just flat out refuse to issue a work permit for a North Korean international due to security issues. LooneyToonArmy
nice performance overall by North Korea..........especially as only 4 of their players play professional football .....the rest are amateur players and they managed to hold Brazil for a good portion of the game and then score against them.. gazza ladra
Is it true that the German league had been using the WC ball since February? Yeah. MLS have been using it all season as welll apparently. With three Bundesliga players in the first 11 and the MLS contigent, US team was pretty accustomed to the ball. Read somewhere that they were encouraged to take potshots from distance. gazza ladra
Does Jong Tae-se have a South Korean passport? I read in the Times or LA Times, that he had specifically rejected the South Korean citizenship. Although he's lived in Japan his entire life, he is not a citizen. In any case, I don't think that he was that impressive. And as far as his tearing up over the North Korean anthem....we'll see if he chooses to actually live in North Korea after the World Cup is over. All signs point to him staying in Japan and angling for a move to Europe.
CaliMag
It should be pointed out that the US has only four player in the entire 23 squad that actually play in the MLS... Hannaman even plays in England and he was the one to suggest taking shots from distance.

Fair enough, but that is five of the starting 11 who have experience with the ball (Cherundolo - Hannover 96; Bradley - Borussia Monchengladbach ; Clark - Eintracht Frankfurt; Donovan - Los Angeles; Findley - Salt Lake). I had thought that the idea of taking shots from distance had originated with Donovan. In any case, blaming the ball is a bit rich. Germany did not score four because of the ball. Though, I see that Maicon is praising the ball.
