Newcastle United v Aston Villa (the season starts here, maybe)

If we go 4-4-2 and have Guthrie/Lovenkrands back, we'll suprise everyone and get a victory. 2-1 us.

Can't see him bringing them both back in their best positions unfortunately.

Hope I'm wrong though.

I agree. I'd take one of them though, and still be hopeful of the same result. Neither and we're in trouble.

Why? ??? Yawn.

I think we could nick a win but a draw would be a reasonable result imo.

They played well on Saturday and no manager means fk fk all.

IF that's IF we can get one or two new faces before then we may win it but it will be tough.

Hughton has to play Ryan Taylor and not Perch, he also has to play two strikers, bring Guthrie back in at least he has some energy.

With no new players

------------------Harps

Raylor-----Willi-----------Colo---------Jose

Rout------Guth----------Barton-------Jonas

-----------Shola---------Carroll

If Lovenkrands isn't fit, i'd honestly give Xisco a shot. He appears to have a bit of bite about him in the fleeting appearances i've seen. Did he come onto the left-wing at the end there? It's just nice to see a player with a neat touch aswell as an eye for goal. The shot was weak as piss but the intent was there.

Obviously, that's hardly a startling review of his recent performances, but the fact of the matter is - if he's here and he's fit, we might aswell encourage him into performing. I really can't be arsed anymore with the Geremis, Luques (and Xiscos) who rot in the reserves contributing nothing to the cause - just a total blip in the dressing room. We might not be the lad's first choice, but he's commited himself to the club for now and if he's better than shit, he deserves to be rewarded with an opportunity. I hold little faith for Shola in this division.

It would also be criminal going into another game with the same 4-5-1. If we do that all year, we'll wither away and put up little of a fight. We're at home and we've got every right to give Villa a good go. We've got players in the squad who can win us football games.

If HBA is not in by then it must be a 4-4-2 :

                                             Harper

               Perch      Williamson         Coloccini           Enrique

              Routledge       Barton         Guthrie*           Jonas

                                    Carroll           Lovenkrands*

Subs- Krul, R. Taylor, Tavernier, Smith, Nolan, Xisco, Ameobi

If Lovenkrands is out, it would be Xisco for me.

Krul

Perch - Williamson - Colo - Enrique

Routledge - Guthrie - Barton - Jonas

Carroll - Xisco/Loven

Perch...   ?

That's his name init? Think so anyway.

Jonny, that's just what i'd go for. If Guthrie and Lovenkrands are fit i think we'll go 4-4-2 with those two reverting to their natural positions. Obviously there's a good chance Nolan will start too, but Hughton's never shyed away from dropping the big characters and/or his favoured personnel.
