Agree with that. I think he believes his own hype a bit as the "hardman". It all started when he got his hair cut Mr T style.

Definitely agree with that. Pardew loves to talk Tiote up as this ferocious beast but it doesn't do him any favours, far from it. The last thing you should do with a hard tackling midfielder is build him up as such because it's doing the ref's job for them.

Completely agree. I miss the days when Cheik was simply our destroyer, it's like he's now the heart and soul of the team's 'fight'.

Gotta love this reaction of sell him because of his aggression. Don't try and resolve the situation through better coaching or anything, sell him.

Just saw Venkmans, posts on previous page, agree entirely.

What do you think the club has been doing for the last 2 years since he's been here then?

It's only his second red. Granted he's been on a thin line quite a few times but that's ow it goes in centre mid, he's hardly a scumbag like cattermole

And I think it's worth remembering his first red was for what I still regard as an absolutely fantastic tackle.

Watching the red card again the main reason he was late into the challenge was the fact he'd been pulled back by that non-entity Colback.

Just caught up with this thread. There's no way I would advocate selling Tiote just because he's "become a liability."

Aye, he has become really hot headed recently -  he's been very prone to the odd rush of blood to the head but in the end, he still adds that extra bit of bite in midfield which is really important to us. There have been games in the past where we've really missed Tiote - you could just tell that we were missing something. As decent as Perch is in the DM role, there's something about Tiote which makes him the better option for the position.

A bit of coaching will go a long way to curb Tiote's tendencies. I don't want his ferocity/aggression to completely go, it is one of his best characteristics but he does need to learn how to keep a cooler head. Unfortunately he's getting a bit of a reputation now.

As others have mentioned bigging up Tiote Chuck Norris style as we do can't help.

Despite playing in the same position Perch and Tiote are very different, Perch is a lot more calm and intelligent, Tiote is a an absolutely destroyer. When Tiote keeps his head he can be brilliant as the centre of midfield really turns into a battle and he scares people around him, just needs to keep his head and not to have this hard nut thing played up soo much.

More importantly, Tiote is so much better on the ball than Perch. Tiote isn't just a destroyer, he's also vital for us when we are in possession, you'll see our back line being far more willing to pass to him compared to Perch and with good reason. This also means that Cabaye won't be forced to come deep to pick the ball up from our back four, as Tiote is there to do it.

Just realised that Tiote, Cisse and Pardew were rocking the Walker Activity Dome yesterday. Gutted I missed that.

Walker Activity Dome???? wtf??? Is that The Lightfoot by any chance?

Aye, the Lightfoot Centre, it's got new all weather pitches outside where the old courts were now. Looks brilliant, ashamed to say I haven't tested them out despite living so close. They've just secured some funding from the Premier League for more improvements to be made to the old hall and the dome.
