Cronky
Not the worst idea to sign another young French lad at the same time as Ben Arfa. Quite possibly the Hughton grey cells at work here.
relámpago blanco
I still think the old scouting for youth regime is about, may not be the same people but something is in place no way Hughton is finding these kids.
healthyaddiction
Can anyone find any information on this lad? I can only find a Nassim Ben Khalifa who has signed for Wolfsburg. edit: it seems he's never played a professional match so that might be why there's so little on him. Thespence
I still think the old scouting for youth regime is about, may not be the same people but something is in place no way Hughton is finding these kids. Â Your right our chatty man Graham Carr spent most of his time in France/Holland once he joined us.
Fatwax
I still think the old scouting for youth regime is about, may not be the same people but something is in place no way Hughton is finding these kids. Â Well since this lad is a free agent and wants to come to the Premier League I'd guess that we heard about him via his agent touting him around. It would also explain why he was playing for Man City reserves about 3 weeks ago.

BeloEmre
NEWCASTLE United are weighing up a post-deadline day swoop for 19-year-old attacking midfielder Nacim Boukhelifa. The former Racing Lens prospect is a free agent and is currently training with United’s development squad with a view to securing a permanent deal at St James’ Park. Boukhelifa – who turned down the offer of a professional contract at Lens after becoming a key member of their youth side – was on trial at Manchester City earlier in the summer but failed to secure a contract at Eastlands. Now United are taking a closer look at the teenager and, because he is a free agent, they could pick him up for nothing despite the transfer deadline passing last week. Some United fans will be aware of their interest in Boukhelifa’s because he was photographed by fans arriving at the club’s Darsley Park training base last weekend. The snap was mistaken for United new boy Hatem Ben Arfa after it was circulated around United online message boards. Now Boukhelifa could be joining his compatriot on Tyneside if he continues to impress. “He is a lad that we’ve got on trial at the moment and he is training with the development squad,” Hughton confirmed to the Sunday Sun. “We’re taking a closer look at him and if he is good enough then we’ll assess the situation. At the moment we’re keeping an eye on him and seeing how he progresses. “What will happen at development level throughout the season is that we will have promising players in on trial and the young French lad is one of those that we’ve decided to take a look at.” http://www.sundaysun.co.uk/sport/newcastle-united/nufc-news/2010/09/05/newcastle-united-lining-up-deal-for-nacim-boukhelifa-79310-27203261/

Guest MrSundlofer
Nassim Boukhelifa has returned to France. He trained with Newcastle about a week ago. He had pace and good technique but his first touch was awful. Don't know where his future will be.

ponsaelius
Sounds good whether we sign this kid or not. Getting in youngsters like this was always a good idea, so It's nice to see we remain reasonably focused on doing so. Think recently the likes of Vuckic, Ranger, Kadar, Bassong etc were all brought in under similar circumstances. We've made a massive profit on one of them and the other 3 are still young but pushing for places in a Premier League side. It could save us a lot in the long run. Plus these players don't have to fill a squad position either if they are very good.
Coco
Would also be good in the sense that another French speaker, of North African descent, should help Ben Arfa settle easier into the squad...
Village Idiot
When did this term "development squad" come along? Â Fat Sam used to use it. Â Beats Man City's "Elite squad", which still is one of the daftest things I have seen lately.
