Guest secteur2010
Yeah, that's why he spent his best years at Bolton Wanderers. You're so much of a spacka I'm not even going to pull you up, daft cunt.
Guest Heneage
He's growing on me, but I think like Smith who was on borrowed time till we got a replacement.
Yorkie
it's like I said to a mate yesterday, "If Nolan had an extra two yards pace he'd be spot on". Got the reply back, "If Nolan had an extra two yard pace he'd not be playing for us!". Had to agree. Tbh i didn't really see much of Bolton when Nolan was at his 'best', but right now, i reckon if Nolan had an extra two-yards of pace, he'd be a good striker. No more or less, really. Pace or no pace, i hope he isn't a permanent fixture in the centre of midfield. Fortunately Hughton seems to agree.
Stu
Would you pick Ryan Taylor over Ole Soderberg What a stupid post. I think it was effective in underlying the point that Nolan shouldn't be compared to Jonas - they don't play in the same position.

I was just thinking today what kind of player Nolan would be if he had Jonas' pace and fitness, would be some player by any standard.
Guest firetotheworks
He's fat etc. He was top drawer against Everton, didn't put a foot wrong imo.

What about the bit where Mikel Arteta walked past him like he was't there on the edge of our area to set up a decent chance?

These things happen all the time, and happened to most of our players at some point, it doesn't ALWAYS mean they're at fault.
Cronky
Nolan does look fitter this season, and while he's obviously limited by his lack of pace, he's battling hard to stay in the first team picture. At Everton, we seemed to have a genuine 5-man midfield, which worked very well overall. It may have suited Nolan a bit better, in that his slowness wasn't exposed so much. Gallowgate Toon
He played well but i agree with the sentiment that he didn't really do an awful lot, it was more a case of he didn't do anything wrong rather than doing a lot of good stuff. I'm okay with him in the team as long as we're winning but i'd still prefer to see him phased out of the middle the more Ben Arfa settles in and Jonas return to the left, at least for away games. People will automatically say Nolan is more effective than Jonas but look at the effect a bit more space (made by Ben Arfa and Tiote) had on Nolan's performance, it could make all the difference for Jonas too. J7
He had a good game on Saturday. I wish some people on here would calm down when we get the odd defeat. The reaction towards Barton and Nolan last week after Blackpool was embarrassing.

Jaehyun
He was good for the first 60 minutes against Everton but in the last 30 minutes he was gone, giving away fouls and getting booked because he didn't have the extra yard to make a clean tackle, missing out on goal-scoring opportunities and failing to defend for the same reason. He was absolutely exhausted.

Ben Arfa took a pretty big blow just before going off. Ran into and bounced off Fellaini. Didn't think Nolan looked any more tired than the rest of the midfielders in the last 30 and it would be interesting to see the yards covered by the 3 central ones. relámpago blanco
I think instead of basically playing up front with Carroll, he actually played in midfield, which for a midfielder is important, he's not a striker, he's a central midfielder. Begbie
Bolton Nolan: http://i.telegraph.co.uk/telegraph/multimedia/archive/00996/walcott_996998c.jpg Newcastle Nolan: http://images.icnetwork.co.uk/upl/nechronical/may2009/8/6/kevin-nolan-331470078.jpg You dont have to be a nutriton specialist to see Nolan needs to loose som weight. Chris Hughton should get his fitness team working on him, give him a new diett or something. He is a very good player which he showed against Everton, but he is struggling to keep up pace for the whole 90min.

Dave
Yet it could all have been so different had an awkward deflected shot from Yakubu not hit the post and scraped in for an equaliser near the end. Krul added: “It was a weird one. I think it hit Kevin on the heel then hit the post. “When I saved it, I heard Kev say to himself ‘well done Nobby lad, well done’.
