James
Thinking about Jonas, he does have some good attributes like his work rate, stamina, his ability to hold onto the ball and his short range passing, but others such as his crossing and shooting and creativity are woeful. Those three woeful attributes are broadly areas where you'd expect a winger to be good. However the attributes he does have are abilities we want our current central midfielders to have. Could he play central midfield, perhaps allowing Ben Arfa in a left sided free role and Jonas could then offer good defensive support down that wing when Ben Arfa goes wondering? Guest BooBoo
Never mind changing position, i just think in the long run it will be better to exchange him for someone more suited to the Premier League.

Shak
No, his best attribute is his dribbling and that would be negated in the middle. You want your CM's to be able to go and get on the ball and attempt to dictate the tempo of the game, generally a lad who can't hid the side of a barn door isn't going to do well in that role. Parky
Maradonna rates him at right back apparently. Make of that what you will.
Skirge
I think with 3 CB's he would be a great shout for right sided wing back -----------------Harps -------Colo------Sol------Willi---- Jonas---------------------------Jose -----------Bart--------Tiote ----Rout--------------------HBA ----------------Carroll

Hanshithispantz
He just needs to be taken into a large room, given a ball, and been told he can't leave untill he's learned to kick a fucking ball. He has all the makings of a very dangerous player, just lacks any form of final delivery. That been said if he could cross and shoot he probably wouldn't be with us. OzzieMandias
Just what we need, another sub-par central midfielder.
CaliMag
I think with 3 CB's he would be a great shout for right sided wing back -----------------Harps -------Colo------Sol------Willi---- Jonas---------------------------Jose -----------Bart--------Tiote ----Rout--------------------HBA ----------------Carroll This type of formation has never worked for us in the past, however, if I were CH I would give it a try in practice to see how it works. Jonas has a great work rate and it does leave current whipping boy Perch out of the starting XI. We know Jose has the speed and fitness to pull this off. Interesting suggestion. Guest andrew
I like that Skirge. That could actually work
mrmojorisin75
1. No, Jonas would be shit in CM. 2. 3 at the back is the worst idea in history.
Super Duper Branko Strupar
I like that Skirge. That could actually work 1. No, Jonas would be shit in CM. 2. 3 at the back is the worst idea in history. We could have 6 quite easily with that formation.
Skirge
I think at home that formation would work.
David28
I think it could work, Hughton should try it in a Carling Cup match probably. He certainly has the stamina and the workrate and also the defensive ability. He can't play a good pass though, which would be a problem.
Guest malandro
I think with 3 CB's he would be a great shout for right sided wing back -----------------Harps -------Colo------Sol------Willi---- Jonas---------------------------Jose -----------Bart--------Tiote ----Rout--------------------HBA ----------------Carroll Looks nice. Not enough pace in the back three, we’d be even more vulnerable to the ball over the top than we are already.
pungen
Didn't anyone watch the World Cup? Jonas was shit as a wingback, always stuck in no mans land. Got two yellow cards in the first two games and got himself suspended and was then replaced by otamendi for the rest of the tournament.
Ronaldo
The fact that some folk feel the need to accomodate a player who failed to shine even in the championship says it all. Hype has done wonders for his career.
Mr. Snrub
No. He just runs with his head down and on top of that his distribution is bad, he'd get crowded out and bossed every match.
The Prophet
To answer the initial question no. Jonas game is all about taking on players and linking up with the full back, he doesn't have te passing range nor the know how in and around the box to command a central role. Secondly that formation wouldn't work on so many levels: The back four lacks pace and would be vulnarable to any form of ball of the top. Jonas proved in the world cup he is a hopeless full back. The initiative to create things through the centre would rely on Barton who has had a mixed bag to say the least this season. Carroll would be isolated.
