Newcastle United 1 - 2 Stoke City - 26/09/10 - post match reaction from page 31

Bad day on the park for us.  If we would've capitalized on the first half we would've won but we let them get back in to the match.  The own goal by Perch is going to be taken very hard by him as I don't see the fans letting him back into their good graces unfortunately.  Death sentence whether he deserves it or not.

The  4411 has no place at home unless the player behind AC is BHA.

The lack of a good 2nd striker is now starting to cost us at home imo.

He looked truly gutted at the end like. Think he knows this as well.

Terrible to throw it away like that. HBA should've been left on, he wasn't as instrumental in the second half as he was in the first, but he still had more to offer then Nolan. Tiote looks to be a great signing so far. had the feeling Enrique still isn't entirely comfortable with HBA as he is with Guttierez in front of him, he never ceases to impress me either. Bartons final ball was horrid today, but felt otherwise he was good. Perch, I thought he was doing alright at first, made some decent movement up the wings, why he was heading backwards I don't understand.

Time for sleep now I think.

Hindsight now, but maybe give Sol the nod next time we're up against this type of attack.

Two goals and two off the woodwork in 45 minutes. That's just too easy.

Tiote did lose the ball in awkward positions a couple of times today, mistakes Smith would have been crucified for. I'm starting to see some of the pluses and minuses in his game. (Still an infinitely superior player to Smith though, goes without saying.)

It was a shit loss but at times we played really well and at the end we really didn't deserve the loss. An OG is a shit way to lose but people on here are knee jerking to the best of their ability and neglect the fact we're playing better and better and eventually this will (hopefully) start paying off.

Fair play to Stoke, as it's literally our own fault we didn't come away with a point. Delap coming on is what really won them the game IMO as we just couldn't cope in the air.

Further up the field, we were poor all match and created very little for all the possession. The penalty was a gift. Second half we couldn't even keep the ball.

I think Sorenson is a bit of a dodgy keeper, but he was largely untested.

How we didn't create any chances in open play in the first half is fucking ridiculous.

Lack of a good final ball, only the Enrique cross is where it was decent.

Stoke were pretty well organised tbh. Two solid banks of 4 and the only time we got in behind was when Jose smashed it across the face.

Crossing from deep rarely works.

Quite simply, Stoke sponged us, and I would have thought that Hughton would have seen that. I have faith that it'll be rectified for the next time, though.

Whats slightly concerning is the lack of obvious chances we are creating. Other than the pen, only Nolans chance at the end was an exampole of us opening them up.
