If we are still interested in Gardner, how about seeing if he'll take Guthrie as part-ex? More realistic than Smith.

How about just not signing Gardner

He'd be decent back up to Cabaye/Tiote imo. Gets goals, tidy on the ball, young etc.

Chuck in Perch too. If Routledge doesn't go to QPR, he'll definitely end up there. At least 2 of our players will be there come August...

See if he'll take Vuckic on loan for a season or something. They can be like our feeder club. Cool.

Can't particularly see why he'd want to help NUFC after the way they treated him tbh.

Maybe not but he'll know the players we have in our squad probably available, and will know he can get them to help them up.

According to the national media we treated Fat Sam terribly, but it hasn't stopped him dealing with Ashley and handing Nolan a bumper contract...approved by the national media. How ironic is that?

He deserves another chance. It's interesting that he's had to wait a bit and ended up back in the Championship, which indicates that he needs another success before he's secured his reputation.

He's inherited a club in a similar situation to ourselves when he took over. If he can perform the same trick, no-one can doubt him.

Ummm.... I've a nagging feeling that Crumpy is right though.

Yup Birmingham will be a good test to see how good he really is. He did fantastic in the Championship but he was also aided by a fantastic squad (by championship standards). Don't think he is as good a manager as some make him out to be but wish him well.

Me too, and I've liked him for over 30 years - not like you Johnny-come-latelys!

Btw, did you guys know he used to be a lift engineer?

There's a difference between buying the top scorer and captain of your former club and loaning out some young players that you have to give back after a season.

He'll hopefully be able to keep the core of their squad and establish a team spirit similar to the one we had here. Fewer players of genuine class this time around for him (they're likely to loose Dann, Johnson, Zigic, Bowyer). If Gardner stays he's got a player and leader in the making to build that side around. They need better strikers though, can see him going for Best and Ranger.
