Pardew has done extremely well but let's not pretend he took over a s**** side like most replacements do. Not so much the "paper" squad but the injuries we suffered left him down to the bare bones on occasions but he still managed to pull off impressive wins at crucial times to keep us clear of the relegation places. Further to his credit is that it was achieved against background of initial hostility with some fans almost willing him to fail. Not only has he proved himself to be a very capable manager but at times he's had to show real balls, which is no bad thing in a manager's make up. We were 12th in the league, and after his first game in charge (a game upon which the players and he himself openly admitted he had very little influence) we were 8th.
