Ex-Newcastle chief John Carver ready for next football challenge with MLS move potentially on the agenda

John Carver could return to Major League Soccer when the new season kicks off in 2016.

The Chronicle understands that Carver would be open to a move back to the league where he managed Toronto FC between 2007 and 2008.

Carver left Newcastle last June after helping the club avoid relegation with a threadbare squad, but is now ready for his next challenge.

He was an interested spectator in the stands at Crystal Palace for their recent defeat against Sunderland, and he is believed to be spending time observing training at Reading FC this week, alongside former coaching colleague Steve Clarke.

The Geordie coach has been working in the media since leaving Newcastle with appearances on Match of the Day, Sky Sports and BT Sports in recent times.

Carver – who has been linked with jobs at Fulham and Rotherham – quipped on his most recent TV appearance that he would adopt a similar stance to Jurgen Klopp in future.

He said on Match of the Day: “When I get my next job I’m going to be like Mr Klopp and smile a lot.”

Newcastle’s poor start to the new season has also been a hot topic of discussion on Talksport, when a national poll indicated that 60% of fans would want Carver in charge of the Magpies ahead of Alan Shearer or Steve McClaren.

Who are these 60% of people man?

This has just ruined my morning coffee time. I don't know what to do now.

One of my mates seen Carver in Hoochie Coochie last Friday night, barely anyone recognised him as 'he looked a lot younger' so was able to enjoy his night out. I told my granda as his best mate worked with and knows JC well personally and he told me that he got about £1m as a payoff and "he spent a canny bit of it on botox, because his face looked like it'd been mangled by a racoon"

He'll end up on a reality show or something, whatever agent he's signed with is clearly advising him to get his face in the media and not be a demented arsehole on TV.

Trying to capitalise on his 15 minutes.

:scared:
