henke
Any of yous who are my age will no doubt remember this Adidas kit / template thing which quite a few clubs and international teams used in the early '90s. I own a couple, and as I'm about to start football training after many years break I'm looking to buy one or two more. http://www.globalfootballshirts.com/ekmps/shops/4dd49f/images/1992-1994-republic-of-ireland-football-shirt-top-jersey-adults-xl-3163-p.jpg I have Ireland (away) and Marseille (home). I know of USA, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Rangers. Quite fancy the white USA one but if anyone can remember an others I'd be dead grateful. Ta. joeyt
On penalties why do linesmen go up to the edge of the box on the touchline rather than stay on the sideline? If its to see if the ball crosses the line then goal-line technology does that now and if its to see if the keeper comes off his line then they clearly aren't making a decision on it (see Adrian v Everton today) Surely they should stay on the sideline in case the ball comes back off the keeper or the post and there might be a vital offside decision which they'll be way out of position to judge because they're making their way back to the sideline from the edge of the box

Figures 1-0 Football
It is to see if the ball crosses the line, as not all competitions have goalline technology so therefore need the linesman where he is. Although, the linesman should also watch for the keeper coming off his line. The Adrian one today was ridiculous, he was nearly on his 6 yard box when the ball was kicked. triggs
Better able to see if the ball is across the line I presume
M4
As you mentioned, the reason for their presence there is specifically for goal line issues. Probably must just be from habit now at the top level and there having been no official ruling.
joeyt
There's pretty much no point in them being there for Premier League games then with the technology Can't remember the last time I saw a keeper penalised for being off his line

sbnufc
It's mainly for the GK on/off the line, than to see if the ball is in or not http://www.fifa.com/mm/document/afdeveloping/refereeing/law_6_the_assistant_referees_en_47406.pdf Point 3 on page 4 and then pages 13 & 14 It hardly ever get enforced though, like you say. bulivye
would it be interesting to see what kind of a side we might come up with if we took every team's premiership table position & the corresponding player from that team who plays that position? for example, as of today in a 4-4-2 we'd have in goal #1 Schmeichel from Leicester city; #2 left back from Spurs; #3 ctr back from Arsenal, etc... might be a pleasant distraction from our mgr troubles! Hughesy
Didn't know where else to put it - has anyone here got any connections to any ex-England international footballers or retired Premiership footballers who people might actually know? Been tasked with trying to help organise a corporate event in London to coincide with the England vs Wales game at the Euros and we want to try and get a relatively well known footballer along to mingle/chat/talk about the game for 3 hours or so. Already tried going through one of those places that arranges this kind of thing, but their rates are ridiculous - getting Ray Wilkins along will cost you 7.5k for example. So I thought cutting out the middleman might be the best way forward. Is it worth trying to contact them on twitter? Other than that, I'm out of ideas... Guest
Hypothetical question now, but had Chelsea won the CL and Man U/Liverpool won the Europa, would we have had 6 clubs in next year's CL?

Stal
Inspired by the current situation of uncertainty around the NUFC managerial position (are we having both mcclaren and Rafa?), I was trying to remember the other two examples of co-managership. One of them was Houllier and Evans at Liverpool (pretty sure it was those two) and the other one was Curbishley and at Charlton. Who was as I cant remember. Also, have their been other examples of joint managership in football?

bulivye
why do people keep referring to the NUFC mgr job as a 'poisoned chalice'? is this view held by the Toon faithful?
sbnufc
What happens if the ball goes in from a deflection from a ref? I assume it's disallowed? What if the ref was in a shitty position and the GK claimed he was in his way even if he wasnt (the ref didnt know if he was or not)?
