Arsenal are working on deals to sign Real Madrid pair Karim Benzema and Angel Di Maria.

The Gunners are prepared to pay £40m for 25-year-old France striker Benzema after missing out on Gonzalo Higuain and Liverpool's Luis Suarez.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is keen to further boost his attacking options with Argentina international Di Maria, 25, who plays on the left wing.

It is understood Wenger is also chasing a goalkeeper and a defensive player.

More follows.

Guess that Arsene reckons Madrid will see either Ronaldo or Bale as their striker, if not they surely don't stand a chance of signing Benzema?

Unbalanced as it might be, a front four of Ronaldo, Özil, Bale; Benzema sounds brilliant like.

Never been convinced by Di Maria, but Benzema would be a fantastic signing for Arsenal.

He's a cracking winger when used right.... when Madrid won the league a couple of seasons back he got between 20 and 30 assists and for Argentina he's always fantastic.

His problem is decision making sometimes he makes the wrong moves in fact too often he does.

Both would be serious upgrades for Arsenal.

16 (+1 in CL) is pretty far from 30 assists tbf ;)

I must have been counting two seasons  my bad  :(

Anyway IF Arsenal do pull these deals off, Tottenham do get the players they are after and Chelsea do get a striker.

The title race would be extremely interesting, although the top 5 would be on lockdown.

Di María is great when he's arsed to. That usually happens when there's a new contract on the horizont.

Yeah that's basically it, although i always find it interesting even when he's poor for Madrid he's always fantastic for his country.

Maybe because he plays on the left instead of the right, i'm not sure but he's always brilliant for them.

utterly overpriced for £93m. More expensive than Ronaldo then? How much would Messi cost?

still remember Bale's early days at Spurs. Everytime he played, Spurs wouldn't win. And now he's worth that amount of money? FFS..he's an injury way from Real fucking up their transfer money and Spurs laughing all the way to the bank.
