Stability Clause:

"A clause that may be included in a non-proportional reinsurance treaty, providing for the indexation of monetary limits (i.e. the excess point and/ or the upper limit) in line with a specified index of inflation."

@LaurensJulien

The stability clause is that after 3 years of a 5 year contract, you can buy your remaining two years wages and leave for nothing

Not very realistic though, is it?

Don't care if we get no money from him, if we lose him now our season will be substantially worse, and our worse position in the table will make us struggle to sign anyone of high enough caliber. Plus it shows we have no ambition apart from just making a profit from selling players. Oh wait that's probably exactly our ambition :anguish:

People will think of anything to have a good moan. That clause potentially applies to every single footballer in the world, there's a whole lot more to it that someone just deciding they want to buy out their own contract.

If a clause was there then there is no way he'd still be here now. The transfer to Arsenal would have gone though in the summer.

Ashley's a fucking arsehole of the highest order but he wouldn't see one of his biggest assets leave for a pittance, no way.

Exactly. If this clause was so straight forward, we would have seen a lot more top level footballers move by now. You would have expected a sports journalist to do more research rather than being so eager to come up with something.

He's actually making his own point worse too by claiming Cabaye's wages are £60-£70k per week. As if. :lol:

Julien Laurens ‏@LaurensJulien 12m

@cseden @GFN_France desperate guess work by who? It exists for all five year contracts in the world!!!

Didn't even get the Webster ruling correct. :facepalm:

Said ruling says you can buy out your contract after 3 years if you sign it before the age of 28, and after 2 years if signed after age 28. Nothing to do with the length of the contract.
