BBC reckons it may not happen now.

Because he hasn't actually signed the contract yet. Nothing new. Making news out of nowt imo.

Saj Chowdhury? ..... You're a c**t.

Absolutely. Can't stand the guy, some of the match reports he writes are utterly woeful.

i wouldn't be certain of it until he's signed the contract really. this being newcastle there's always a chance for things to go wrong.

It looks done and dusted but yeah until he's actually signed you always worry some other club will jump in at the last minute.

Can't really understand why we are waiting? Surely the fee's already been agreed and he must have a general idea of the wage he is going to be on otherwise I doubt he'd have publicly said he's coming here.

He may get a bad injury in the internationals he is playing. Very understandable.

The window doesn't officially open until July does it? Club and player probably see no point in rushing him across the channel for what would've been a few hours between the end of the season and the French national squad getting together just to confirm a deal which we've got ages to finalise.

2988 - Yohan Cabaye made the most touches in Ligue 1 this season. Presence.

Or:

2988 - Yohan Cabaye a touché le plus de ballons en Ligue 1 cette saison. Présence.

Roughly translates to : 2988 touches of big balloons in Ket sessions :snod:

The "BBC Sport has learnt that Newcastle have yet to enter negotiations with the holding midfielder" story is probably just a member of the southern media desperately clutching at straws, hoping the deal doesn't happen. They are probably upset that NUFC might have signed a good player and they don't like that. By media law, all good players must be signed by Man U, Man City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool or Tottenham.

If negotiations hadn't started why would Cabaye's current manager name Newcastle as the club Cabaye is going to?

Same happened when we were signing Colo. Seemed a done deal for months before it finally got confirmed.

Aye, didn't Ashley wear a home shirt with Coloccini printed on even before he had signed?

Aye. Coloccini was in the stands, Ashley had the name on his shirt and about two weeks later the article about him signing finally appeared on the official site
