gbandit
He's improved on the ball, he doesn't pass it out of play as much when he goes short. Unfortunately he can't cross. If he works on that he'll be useful, if he can't change it, he shouldn't get on the pitch in the PL
Pilko
Obertan deserved some leeway after his midweek performance. Yesterday his first mistake was met with a chorus of groans and in some instances, idiotic abuse. There were two or three instances during the match where he misplaced a pass no longer than five or six yards straight to a red shirt. That will get groans and abuse no matter who the player is. Stifler
In midweek he had hardly any pressure on him and was up against Championship quality players. In the Premiership he's up against stronger players and is under constant pressure and he's nowhere near good enough for it. Face it, this guy is a shocking buy, he's never going to be good enough and he keeps getting a chance ahead of others who need game time to develop. That's the top and bottom of it. We have midfielders who are more talented and require gate time much more than Obertan. Yet most weeks Pardew flogs this dead horse. No doubt he only plays 'cos its Pardew's signing. But tbf i wouldn't of argued about giving him a chance vs WBA after seeing him score vs Bruges. PL's just not his level. And it's dodgy how Abeid, Amalfitino and Marveaux have completely disappeared from the first team, surely they're better options than Obertan! Deuce
And it's dodgy how Abeid, Amalfitino and Marveaux have completely disappeared from the first team, surely they're better options than Obertan! Perhaps not. Marveaux certainly hasn't impressed this season and if Pards doesn't feel Abeid or Amalfitano are league-ready, I have no qualms about Obertan still seeing time. toondra
4 years ago, being asked about obertan, laurent blanc, who was his coach at bordeaux, said that obertan needed to fix his mental/psychologic problems if he wanted to make a good football carreer. i think there's a big issue with this guy, he doesn't have self confidence. henke
My wife just asked why Obertan slows down everytime he's faced with a 50/50 challenge. For the same reason he jumped at thin air in the build up to Anitas goal.
Amir_9
Rather see him than Jonas in the first team, for now.
Unlucky Luque
Should've buried the two clear cut chances in the first half
Beren
Rather see him than Jonas in the first team, for now. Obertan in the Premiership is grim, man. Far worse than Jonas.
Mick
Rather see him than Jonas in the first team, for now. He did well tonight but do we have to keep trying to flog a dead horse?

Guest Dontooner
Plays fairly well on the left, which i think its a more natural position for him. Maybe in a couple of years he might actually get better..

wyn davies
back to his normal useless self no commitment and if peeps are getting on Marveaux back then I'm afraid Obertans is well below him,no idea what Pardew see's in this guy.

Amir_9
While hes utterly useless in the opposition box sometimes, theres the odd one or two square pass he gets right with nobody being there unfortunately. Barely see Jonas in the opposition box now, see him being inffective in center midfield and on the wing mostly, someones also mentioned a while ago how hes not winning as much fouls as he used to.
