Gabriel Obertan signs for Anzhi

Always thought he is a good sub to bring on when we are leading and the opposition are all over us in our half..when the ball is cleared, like tonight, he would be the one bringing it and go through on goal..but his finishing is just s***..

remembered he scored when coming on as a sub and scoring against Blackburn at Ewood in one of those situations..

I was on a very pixelated river, but what exactly did he do for the widespread outrage on here again? Aye, he spurned two good chances, but then he also made the runs to get himself in a position to shoot. Other than that, what did he do so atrociously wrong? He should have scored, indeed, but to me he proved he is quite useful at this exact role of coming on against tired legs when we are in front and keeping them on the back foot with his pace. He certainly much better at that role than starting as a winger and being expected to be a creator of chances.

Thank you for proving my point. Much of the bile in here about yesterday's performance has much less to do with yesterday's performance than it has with previous performances. I wouldn't have shed a tear if he'd left us for free this summer, but as it is, he can be somewhat useful in a specific set of circumstances, as he proved again yesterday evening imho.

I think it was more the fact he fell over on a few occasions, yes he had a couple of chances but compare him with Sammy and he is dreadful
