Santon 'I'd pack my bags for Milan' Oops.

:hmm:

If that's the headline it may be a little misleading. Anybody able to explain what the article says?

Well, he's waxing lyrical about Newcastle. Saying he loves the club, the city and the atmosphere here. Says how much he enjoyed his goal against Wigan. They ask if he would return to Italy. He says he has heard of interest from Milan, but he has a contract here until 2016 and he has an English family now. He says he would think seriously about leaving if Milan came in for him, but he would not leave for anyone else.

Please note this is based on my very limited knowledge of Italian ;)

“I’ve heard of the interest from Milan in me and that is really pleasing. I’m really happy in Newcastle. I like the city, the club and the atmosphere. I’m also engaged to Chloe and we’re expecting a baby in May,” the 22-year-old told La Gazzetta dello Sport today. “I live like a king in Newcastle and I have a contract until 2016. But that doesn’t mean that I’ll stay here.

“I’m not sure what would happen if another Italian club came in for me, but I’d seriously think about packing my bags for Milan.  I owe Inter a lot. I was happy there, but it is not my fault that I was born as a Milanista… If Balotelli and I are still friends? Well, when paths diverge the contact is a bit lost but we were friends of course. In England we talked every now and then and in the national team we immediately found a common understanding. I’m happy for him, I see him more calm.

“Balotelli is more mature now. The decision to return was an excellent one for him. The fact that I can go back to playing with Mario (at Milan) would be an extra incentive. Otherwise we’ll challenge each other as opponents,” added the Italian fullback.

Aye, his defensive 'qualities' would be enough to him to track back and help a lot but his main attributes are definitely getting forward, haidara (when fit) and Santon on the left, Debuchy and Hatem on the right.....

Davide Santon's agent expects the reported AC Milan target to still be at Newcastle United next season.

The full-back was linked with a January move to Milan and recent speculation has claimed that the Rossoneri will try to sign the 22-year-old in the summer.

The former Inter Milan defender suggested earlier this month that he would have to 'seriously think' about any opportunity to join Massimiliano Allegri's side.

However, Santon's representative Renzo Contract believes that the player is too valuable to Newcastle to be sold at the end of the season.

"I believe that Davide will remain in England because Newcastle want to count on him next season too," Contract told Radio Crc.

"The club believe that he still has great room for improvement."

Santon has made 63 appearances for Newcastle since his 2011 transfer from Inter and he is under contract at St James' Park for another three years.
