Be a howl if he bought the mackems

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/mike-ashley-wants-remain-football-11384873

Mike Ashley wants to stay in football after selling Newcastle United .

But the Sports Direct magnate is unlikely to go for a Premier League club after realising he does not have the financial muscle to compete.

After 10 years Ashley is looking to exit St James’ Park and listen to offers for the Tyneside club.

But an aide said: “Sometime in the future Mike wants to have another go as a club owner but he is talking about maybe rescuing a club in football’s lower reaches.

“He knows he’s not at the races when it comes to the big clubs.”

Ashley has so far been encouraged by the interest in Newcastle from investor Amanda Staveley who is representing Middle East interest.

But Sunday Mirror Sport can reveal there are three other “big hitters” who have registered an interest.

And the insider added: “Mike will only sell to the people he thinks will be good for the club. It’s not all about the money.”

Sheff wed, sheff utd,  forest.  Ashley will need a club who are happy to just yoyo and exist at the top of the championship and bottom end of the prem...and accept his awful SD s*** all over the stadium.

I hope he keeps his grubby mitts off Sheffield Wednesday. They are a nice old fashioned club with loyal fans.

I was thinking along similar lines.

All his ShitDirect hoardings plastered all over a grand old stadium. Would be a sad sight indeed.

Ashley will be going for rangers

Rangers have ousted him, and have made steps to oust SD from the club. I also have no doubt that if he were to somehow buy them, then a large proportion of the Rangers fans would have no problem boycotting matches, and in the SPL attendances are more critical as a form of income.

They are also more likely to be about some action. If it's been stress owning Newcastle, it'll be worse at Rangers.

He'll see it as a bigger opportunity though.

Wtf is the "data room stage" the Chronicle is talking about? I'm sure they are just making things up now.

A Due Diligence Data Room is the place where the company places copies of the financial, legal and business documents that define the history and future of the company for prospective investors to review prior to submitting a formal offer.

I've been involved in a few company takeover processes myself (was a member of the executive management team in a company put up for sale). My experience is that 80% of initial interested parties pulls out before entering the data room stage.

Handanovic - 35m

icardi - 80m

Insigne - 40m

Guedes - 50m

spunk the rest on a decent LB

Might as well get Perisic as well if we are going full on Newcastionale.

shout tbh. I dunno why no one has bought Handanovic, massively underrated keeper imo.

Inter have loads of money now and are a massive club in their own right. Always find it a bit weird when you go on about Icardi not getting a move elsewhere too

Cheers for explaining

So I think we can be safe to assume they are actually seriously interested then.

 I understand his viewpoint tbf, but i do feel the clubs that could afford him either don't need him or Inter would ask for way too much.

Until now :yao:

[emoji38] because its not the 90s anymore? They haven't been good for absolutely ages, they are still playing Nagatomo as a LB. They won't win Serie A, they won't do anything in the CL. So they have an easy CL level player who should be playing for a CL calibre team

They won the Champions League in this decade not that that really even matters. I think they could go close to winning the league and they have a great manager now. What teams in the CL do you think should/could buy him?

Yeah they'll be more aggressive than us, someone would do him in

That's one thing that gets me. As a collective, we've been fairly docile under Ashley. Bigger clubs historically - Liverpool, Man Utd, Rangers would've had Ashley fearing for his life or mobilised to get him out better.

You look at ourselves and to a degree Arsenal - we've been taken the piss of too easily
