WarrenBartonCentrePartin
The ''scarves for speed'' thing is merely an extension of ''bring back the scarves'' that was on twitter a few month back. Some scarf obsessed doyles using a sad death as an excuse. there's a poster with that written on in the Eldon Square club shop window An official one or? looked official enough to me... maybe_next_year
sounds like a fitting tribute. will cetainly be a sad moment. football will certainly be taking a back seat on saturday.
Jill
I'm going to be devastated. Can't say I know the hymn but I see we'll get hymn sheets and it sounds like it'll be very moving.
p_cowell141
Absolutely gutted I'm not going to this tbh. Can't get time off. I was with a Welsh lass for about 4-5 years, so spent lots of time down there and amongst welsh-speakers...Bread of Heaven is possibly the most emotional and soul-stirring hymn, especially when it is sung en masse. Hope it makes Speedo proud.
joeyt
Do we know who's singing it on Saturday? Graham Danby? or a female?

TheGuv
There's no way i'll keep the tears at bay when singing this. A very very emotional hymn. Fair play to the club
Sifu
That's brilliant from the club Saturday is going to be a very emotional day. That's when it's going to hit me most.
PENKAAA
Gonna memorise it and sing it in the bar when i'm watching it. Wish i was there, the atmosphere will be great!
maybe_next_year
i assume we'll be using these words, not the ones used above for the welsh rugby team. Guide me, O thou great Redeemer, Pilgrim through this barren land; I am weak, but thou art mighty; Hold me with thy powerful hand: Bread of heaven, bread of heaven Feed me till i want no more. Feed me till i want no more. Open thou the crystal fountain Whence the healing stream shall flow; Let the fiery, cloudy pillar Lead me all my journey through: Strong deliverer, strong deliverer Be thou still my strength and shield. Be thou still my strength and shield. When I tread the verge of Jordan, Bid my anxious fears subside; Death of death, and hell's destruction, Land me safe on Canaan's side: Songs of praises, songs of praises I will ever give to thee. I will ever give to thee.
Christmas Tree
That sounds very fitting, fair play to the club. Could be an emotional morning. I'll have to keep off the sauce to make sure I don't sob like a child Plus 1 Absolutely spot on by the club, really pleased about this.

Benwell Lad
As an old traditionalist I think silence is most appropriate to mourning, but have to say it sounds like the club have thought this through very considerately and come up with a dignified and appropriate tribute. Well done.
durhamunigeordie
Hate wearing football shirts so going to sort myself a tribute mug out with some of the great photos that have been doing the rounds. Found this offer if anyone else fancies doing the same: http://promo.snapfish.co.uk/xmasmug11/xmasmug11/

Hanshithispantz
How have they made it religious ffs? Fuckind wind-ups in this thread man.
maybe_next_year
I can't understand why the club have made the tribute religious? the Hymn is in their for it's welsh links not for religious reasons. Also the club did mention they planned to talk to Gary's family about how best to honour him and clearly they must agreed with this.

Hanshithispantz
How have they made it religious ffs? 52 thousand people singing Bread of Heaven. You never been to a funeral before like? (and no i'm not saying the 2 scenarios are identical, but the meaning is the same)
NG32
Its the Welsh national anthem, is it not? We sing god save the queen.
