Crumpy Gunt
Some utterley disgraceful stuff posted in that thread. Proved a lot of folk wrong - yes, including me as well. Well done Pardew. http://www.newcastle-online.org/nufcforum/index.php/topic,72950.0.html
NG32
I dont think you can have a go at anyone, AShley sacked a well liked manager. Hughton may not have been the best of the best but he was doing us a canny job. Ashley sacks him and brings in one of his casino mates. Pardew has impressed me and won me over but you cant blame folk on here for not being happy about it at the begining.
Beren
I thought this would be a sarcastic thread "One year on - well done Pardew... still giving Lovenkrands games over better/fitter/younger players in their natural position".

Had the exact same thought. Almost word for word
themanupstairs
The fans didn't trust Ashley back then (and obviously still don't), so had nothing to be happy about when replacing Hughton with Pardew. I genuinely would love to know how the appointment of Pardew came about. Did they listen to what he had to say and were insightful enough to recruit him on that basis? Or was it jobs for the boys? If Ashley genuinely had faith in him to produce the stuff on the football pitch and get results, then I hope he will continue to back him this January, as it is really crucial that he does. Well done AP
AyeDubbleYoo
Aye, good job Pards. I liked him before he came here, always seemed intelligent and articulate. It was only the circumstances of his appointment I didn't like, Hughton didn't deserve to be treated so badly.
Si
Slated him to the hills, thought it was a nonsense appointment and that he didn't have the chops to manage at a club like this. Now love him to bits, proud to have him as our manager and really enjoying this period of football. He has enough ego and swagger about him to be able to deflect a lot of the nonsense. JH
Sounded intelligent? Really? "We was unlucky today"
TheGuv
I must admit I was glad we sacked Hughton when we did, however to say I was disappointed in hiring Pardew would be an understatement. However, one year on i'm happy to eat my own words like. Anybody who comes in here saying 'I told you he'd be good' is a f***ing liar mind

AyeDubbleYoo
Sounded intelligent? Really? "We was unlucky today" Whey his grammar isn't perfect, but that's not a requirement in football.
JH
It's quite high up in the intelligent and articulate requirements though

Guest
53 points from his 36 games, pretty close to what we had during the 03-04 season.
Colocho
Pardew has done well - but the reaction to the sacking of Hughton (and the appointment of one of Llambias' mates from the casino) was to be expected, imo.

Skirge
Credit where credit is due, lets hope he is backed by the club who see fit to give him control over who leave who stays & who comes in.. then maybe he can carry on making good progess for the rest of this season and for seasons to come. NEEJ
Had a good chuckle at what I said in that thread. To be honest, he pretty much won me over from the end of the Liverpool match.
Disco
Credit where credit is due He's vastly exceeded my expectations but I won't fully judge him until the season it out.

Ketsbaia
The reaction was perfectly understandable, but fair play to Pards, he's mostly doing a fantastic job. His persistance with Raylor and Lovenkrands irritates me, but he's created a nice atmosphere and handles the media with ease. Good lad.
54
Credit were credit is due. I remember when he first signed and a friend said that he would do well, and I immediately dismissed him, and called him an idiot. Pardew's massively exceeded my expectations. Cronky
He had a decent enough record, but I thought the situation would defeat him, or anyone else for that matter - taking over from a sacked manager who'd been popular with players and fans, and being the first choice of an unpopular owner. Lots of pressure, and I occasionally wonder how things might have turned out if we hadn't beaten Liverpool in his first game. But we did, and here we are.
