johnnypd
I still prefer 4-5-1/4-3-3 with the personnel we have in midfield (We have no talented player who is a traditional winger). It is difficult to stick both of the Senegalese in such a formation, though, so we will have to persist with two strikers in all likelihood. you could go with ba/cisse up front and ben arfa allowed to drift off them so like a 3 up front but very mobile. start them in a 4-4-2 but have the front 4 roam around- just with Ba and Cisse more designed to get quickly into the box, Jonas told to roam more defensively doing basic midfield work as well as showing for the ball, and Ben Arfa cutting in from the right. one reason i wouldn't want to go too far towards a strict 4-3-3 would be limiting the amount of times Ba gets the ball in the box - he's deadly in that situation and can turn crap crosses or passes or positions into goals in the blink of an eye. wouldn't want him ploughing a lonely furrow wide left or owt like that. Tiresias
Ba's scoring will possibly drop off a bit with Cisse in the team as I suspect he'll probably feel less need to shoulder all the goal scoring burden, he'll cause problems for defenders and feed Cisse with any luck. alexthegreat
Tiote Cabaye Jonas Ben Arfa Ba Cisse Think nearly everyone would like to see a front six looking a bit like that, I would anyway. It could end up a bit too narrow. Could end up with the League's second top scorer finding himself out wide far too often while our new number 9 struggles to bed himself in. Or it could be absolutely lethal. I think Pardew will be able to make it work. When Tiote, Ba, and Cisse get back from the ACON there will be about 2-3 weeks and a game v Wolves to get it together before the derby. Would love to see those 6 absolutely tear into Sunderland. Guest je85
I liked Jonas' movement at the weekend when he was in the middle drifting from side to side. So, providing enough width can come from fullback. Krul Santon Colo Saylor Left Back Tiote Cabaye Jonas Ben Arfa Ba Cisse

Krul Santon Colo Saylor Left Back Tiote Cabaye Jonas Ben Arfa Ba Cisse Actually think this might work think Jonas would have the ability to track back into the left midfield position when needed but also roam to the ACM position as he wishes. HBA and Jonas play quite well together as both of them are pass and move players, would be a good idea to keep them close to one another when attacking. Ronaldo
I'd be tempted to say that this is the type of game Jonas is useless in, but he's actually scored in his last two appearances against Wolves, incredibly.
