Fabrice Muamba retires from professional football

What happened to him? :(

Suspected heart attack on the pitch, received treatment, carried off on a stretcher, matched abandoned, rushed to hospital.

No news for 2 hours with everyone suspecting the worst, then news that he's in a stable condition in hospital.

went out for a meal for mothers day a couple of hours ago when it looked like it was too late for him, so oddly, coming home and finding him stable is pretty good news, compared to what i was expecting.

hope he recovers okay, thoughts with his fiance and kid, must of been horrific for them too.

Statement from THFC:  Confirmed that Muamba is 'critically ill' in intensive care in the heart attack centre of the London Chest Hospital.

:( at least he's still alive.

I guess this latest bit of news about being critically ill and on life support were expected though right?

It was one of the two possible outcomes really, it's the far far better one.

Aye, must be remembered that just the fact they've managed to resuscitate him after so long is massive.

Not out the woods by a long way yet.

Not at all. Unfortunately sometimes when a heart attack happens if the patient survives then they can often suffer from more hearts attacks not long afterwards. My nana actually died that way, she had more than one heart attack (3 in total I believe).

Not only that but they will have to find the reason why he had a heart attack and fix whatever the problem was.

It is good news that he is a stable condition though and by the sounds of it he is being treated by Dr's who are some of the very best Cardiologists.

If he's on a life support machine it's a very bad sign. Just spoken to a doctor who said they 'basically breathe for you, because you can't yourself' and 'people who are on them are as ill as you can possibly get'.

Thankfully we have some of the best medics in the world in England, so let's pray for a miracle.
