Well Carr seems to think so, but he seems like a very good prospect, or at least from the little I've watched Twente which is exclusively when I bet on them.

EDIT:

And aye, I love seeing us getting linked with fantastic players again, this could really be our best transfer window yet if we get at least 3/4 of the "main" players we are linked with.

Not too bothered if this falls through. Although I am limited to youtube vids on this guy, he seems to be kind of slow, lacking necessary tempo and not very technical. Looks like Tore Andre Flo mkII.

He is still young, and can improve by working on his weaknesses, but he is not worth £10m as of today - IMO.

Have you told Graeme Carr this yet? If not get a move on.

I've seen a fair bit of him and I think 10 million is a fair price. Certainly wouldn't go much higher than that. The problem with setting a price is you don't necessarily just pay what you think a player is worth. For the selling club there is also the consideration of having to find a replacement, importance to the team and whether they have already sold other players to balance the book, such as Twente have done with Ola John. If they lose De Jong and Douglas they are essentially looking at a rebuilding job and can presumably forget about challenging for the title whereas if they don't they will be in the mix. How much is something like that worth?

The latest set of quotes from his manager will really help us and other interested parties though, it's no use hanging on to a player who has made up their mind about wanting to leave.

Is there anyone, more well known, that you can compare him too Unbelievable?

Hmmm.. Though call. I'd say he's right footed, slightly less technical but stronger version of Van Persie.

There's quite a few good online vids on him though. Search for "Best of Luuk de Jong FC Twente" and "Luuk de Jong | 2011/2012 | The Next Van Persie?" in your favourite online video sharing site for two good examples.

To be fair, its only Carrs specific paid profession to travel the world watching players all year round. Yes hes been doing it for a very long time & has an incredibly proven track record. Lets find out what the random forum member helsug from sweden thinks first, i mean in his equally creditable opinion he might not be worth that much.

Suprised nobody has linked the timing of us trying to sign De Jong, along with us selling Best.

It's either an attempt at one in, one out or its us being "open for business" now that we are in July.

I'd take a guess and say its the latter rather than the former since Forster in on his way to Celtic this week too.

as much to do with other clubs being 'open for business' aswell. players contracts tend to run to the end of june and many players have bonuses built in to their contracts on seeing out another year, players and staff returning from breaks and the euro's etc.

Well yeah, but it's fair comment that the videos aren't that impressive. I couldn't see any one aspect of his game that stood out.

Really? Which videos did you watch?

Ba and Cisse's videos both had them scoring either scrappy goals or standard finishes. They rocked up here as the complete centre forward package, putting together a career's worth of show-reel goals.

Not only have Graham Carr and the scouting department found good players, they've found good players who have the proper attitude and commitment to fit in right away in the Premier League with us.  There are innumerable examples of fabulous players not being able to get acclimated and we've avoided that.  So if they feel de Jong has the talent and the mental makeup to be an immediate impact player for us, who am I to doubt it, regardless of whatever Youtubery anyone wants to discuss.

It looks like #NUFC have missed out on Luuk de Jong according to Dutch media. They have had take-it-or-leave-it offer rejected.
