Guest BooBoo
Just by merely glancing at his picture I can tell he's the next Van Persie. First goal he scored on this compilation I'm watching was a class overhead kick. We're going to win the league. Whatever happened to NSG?
Jayson
Dont see how we'd accomodate all 3 strikers and Ben Arfa consistantly. One or other would surely be on bench quite often & wouldnt stay happy.

Dave
Tall lad isn't he. Scores a good few headers as #9. How would he fit into a 4-3-3, out of interest?
Mr. Snrub
If Ba leaves Premier League to go to Turkey then f*** him just chasing money really, shows lack of ambition going there like He does have form for it like. True, you would think he would be happy around the french speakers in squad and felt at home. Go to Turkey for racist abuse - how much more cash can he possibly want, you would think as a footballer you would want to play in best leagues. He's still our player. Colo our best and most important player.

I know De Jong's an international and is coming off the back of a great season; but he's still only 21. We might not see him as an immediate starter. Whether he would accept something like that remains to be seen, particularly if he has other offers on the table. I just don't think it's beyond the realms of possibility that we're after another 'big-name' striker to go with what we've got.

Like others can't see us offering so much for a 3rd striker, most likely that Ba is going tbh. Wonder if we have been waiting for the Dutch to be knocked out to offer bid - he was in the squad? so prob trying to get in and tie it up quickly
Fenham Mag
Specialist Scouse opinion on the matter: Personally not that fussed, dont think that de Jong will crack it in this league. Yes but that's not your full season is it, would expect if you come to premier league you would only leave for a league at similar level really

JH
You buy Luuk de Jong to replace someone like Ba. You sign a cheap, semi-decent player like Best to replace Best. Swings and roundabouts. You could perhaps attach that methodology to a club like us, but clubs around us in the table buy players like De Jong to add to what they've already got - especially when they've got a European campaign ahead of them and nearby rivals are also strengthening. Would leave us with four quality players for three positions. Off the top of my head, can't think of a club around us in a similar position. Then why did Chelsea buy Lukaku when they already had Drogba, Torres, Kalou, Sturridge, (Anelka?) all on the books? Arsenal have signed Giroud to go with Van Persie, Podolski, Gervinho, Park, Chamakh. They're not exceptional examples, i'll confess. Because Chelsea have a boatload of money so aren't relevant IMO. And for Arsenal, I can see Park and/or Chamakh going. And RvP if the price is right.

ponsaelius
He hasn't been as prolific in Holland as I'd thought he had. Is he more a creative player than a pure goalscorer? I love how low the standards of goalscoring are set in Holland. 25 goals last season isn't that prolific If we're signing him it will be based on our judgements of him as a footballer more than any goalscoring stats anyway.
