Ronaldo
Tbf it doesn't mean we want to hoof.... For one thing he mentioned pace and no hoofball merchant is pacey..... Odd thing to say. Name a target man around who is quick, Drogba was the only one in recent years and he had much more to his game than your standard target man. Target men barely exist anymore, man. But there are players who can play the role who have a nice turn of pace. Why wouldn't they?
Mole_Toonfan
Newcastle boss Alan Pardew is looking for power and pace as he targets a replacement for striker Demba Ba. Chelsea triggered the £7m escape clause in Ba contract with Newcastle on Wednesday, and the player is ready to leave St James' park. Pardew was looking to take positives from the situation, and he believes Ba and former strike-partner Papiss Cisse were not a natural combination. As a result he is hoping to recruit a player similar to Gabriel Obertan, with Marseille's Loic Remy at the top of his wanted list. Pardew said: "I would like, if possible, to have a player with real power and pace. Sometimes, we lack a little bit of pace. "Obertan brings that to the team, but when Gabby is not in the team, that's something I would like to see in the player that comes in because that will help Papiss, and also somebody who is going to threaten at set-plays because it has been a weakness for us. "But it's easy to say what I would really like - it's what I can get in this window and the options are not numerous. There are only a few players, really, who are available." Ok that makes a little more sense i understand where hes coming from now.

Ronaldo
See, those are players who can play the role but exist far beyond the stereotype. Berbatov and Jason Roberts are two more.

Dokko
Isn't Remy supposed to be good with his head? Sure a few people have said that on here. Tbh Cisse has always impressed using his head in his time here, obviously all he can do these days is prevent throw-ins with it.
Ronaldo
Berba? Berbatov had a very nice turn of pace and still is hardly slow.

Mick
When he is able to put out the following side with the following bench then and only then should he be judged ...................Krul................ Debuchy...Taylor...Colo.....Santon ...............Anita.....Tiote............ HBA................Cabaye..........Marv ..................Cisse....................... Jonas Simpson Shola Bigi Taylor Willo New CF So if we never have all of those players fit, and if we don't replace Ba, we can't judge Pardew. You're looking for bites. Hanshithispantz
Cisse is hardly slow though, which is the point here. When Pardew says pace and power how probably doesn't mean Obafemi Martins.
Mole_Toonfan
Berba? Berba isn't quick and he isn't a target man, Pards is talking Obertan like pace and none of those players mentioned in other posts have that type of pace. Pards is describing Remy if you actually read the full quotes.

Ben Arfa and Marv can clearly go through the gears too. The guy is just talking trash.
Mole_Toonfan
The guy is just talking trash. No denying that when i read his quotes though i think its clear what he's saying and its not " I WANT CARROLL NOAW".
BONTEMPI
This is all you need to know that not enough will be done. "However, the manager warned that while the club's need is great, their financial model will govern what they are able to do." I don't even worry about the financial model being a restriction anymore, as we continue to sign really good players. What is of concer now is the numbskull in charge of the team. "However, the manager warned that while the club's need is great, their financial model will govern what they are able to do." Yep although we made a decent start to the window, I'm not convinced we'll end up doing enough. TBH assuming no more out goings then if we don't bring in at the very least a CB and a Ba replacement then we will be screwed, that's the bare minimum we should expect and if the board can't make that happen due to the model then the model is fucked because you can throw it out of the window when you are playing championship football next year.
