Hughesy
They want to build a new stadium and they will get a lot of corporate sponsors from Asia. Fernandes is a smart guy. He's not a guy who lucked or was born into money. He has business sense. He's investing now and hopes that it'll pay off later. The sustainability of the club will depend on their revenue but he already has a plan for increasing their revenue. That's much more than Portsmouth ever had. Whether he's successful is another matter but they're certainly not a Portsmouth who had owners who spent beyond their capabilities. Yes they are. Portsmouth had a new stadium in the pipeline. Portsmouth actively were looking for extra sponsors and thought buying success now would buy them guaranteed future which was completely wrong. They still went he same way as Leeds. Which QPR will do when they get relegated. Fernandez is way smarter than anyone who was ever connected to Pompey. History is littered with the still smouldering corpses of clever, rich men who went into football club ownership and still got burned. Fernandes has more brains than the whole of our management put together. More so he is an inspirational character like a Branson. He really isn't. You know fuk all about him. He was one of the brains at Aol and left when he saw the writing on the wall. He started Air Asia from scratch in one room with no airline licence. If qpr survive in the PL a couple of season they will be a force to be reckoned with. How is that any different from Ashley taking voer his dad's shop and becoming a billionaire? Fernandes is worth quite a lot less than Ashley. USD 400 million to £1.5 billion.
brummie
QPR are the most insanely, short termist run side in the league. If they go down, they'll more than likely implode. The problems provincial sides, ones who can't offer constant CL football, face is that we're not in London, and London is one of the best cities on earth. That's one factor which will swing players (and their wives), there probably aren't many better places to be than London for a youmg multi-millionaire. If Remy has been swung by the insane £££ that QPR have offered, then, frankly, you're better off without him. It's at the very least an indication of what his commitment would be like. He's 27 not 23. His type of player - pace and athelticism tend to decline quickly as they approach their 30's. He needs the money now. So what do you do? Bend to his demands? What's the difference in what you were offering and what they did? You could equally say that if he's that type of player, he needs the money because he's going to decline, as you said, which doubly makes him one to avoid, especially at that cost. Nothing we can do. We have to stick to our wage structure, but that doesn't mean fernandes and qpr are monkeys like some are trying to say... There's a good amount of evidence to suggest they are, though, isn't there? Look at the players that club has bought over the last year or so, and the money they will be on. Utterly unsustainable. Fernandes might not be as bad as previous Portsmouth owners, but they were so bad, there's plenty of scope to not be, and still fuck things up royally. Benwell Lad
Can only think that QPR have protected themselves against relegation with a load of release clauses etc. If they haven't then their policy is genuinely suicidal. When you're bottom of the league you have no choice but to gamble. He'll be on a free if they go down. A deal comprising a ten million plus euro transfer fee plus the players/agents contract and fees, for what would be four months work if, as the bookmakers think they will go down, would seriously contradict what you said about Fernandez a couple of posts ago. There will be a release clause but a free would be pure mental. But hey, if he's the golden nugget that's going to keep them up, well done QPR. To put it bluntly if they get the 2 french players and with Harry at it...Their chance of survival just became better than ours at this moment. IF we don't perform in this window we'll go down. A different point but sure, based on those suppositions you may be correct. But the point was a "free" after four months is hardly the work of a genius or "Branson" like businessman. There again I don't think it will be a "free" and if Remy inspires them to stay up it could be the work of a genius.
Parky
What Fernandes has realised is that it's possible to buy success if you just risk enough money. The problem is that they've bought the wrong players so far. If they stay up they will get it right eventually, money talks. That's about right. Can't see them getting much debt from banks. It is a disaster waiting to happen.
Big Geordie
Just back in from work - disappointing news, but I would say that if he is only interested in money then fuck him. Move on to another target and get him in pronto.

Only way a club like QPR can sustain 80k p/w for players is Champions League. Fernandes expected midtable this season. There's no way he can support 20m losses year on year. ponsaelius
It's all borrowed money, Fernandes isn't rich enough to sink his own fortune into a company that is going to hemorrhage money. It might not be this year, or next year - but in 5 years time they are going to be completely fucked. The policy is simply unsustainable, and unlike Leeds QPR won't be big enough to recover from it.
