there's something profoundly depressing about Stoke's backline, they're effective in a way but the full backs at the very least are absolutely terrible players, just well drilled defence

 

The fact they are all very limited footballers who just defend the penalty area? fair play to them it works but there's nothing special about any of them.

Shotton gets picked because he a has a long throw, no other reason. Wilkinson is just disgusting, no redeeming features at all. As I said earlier somewhere take the defensive players out of the Stoke system and they'll be proved average to poor because no other team sets up so defensively rigid.
