The College Dropout
Bertrand is very good whenever I see him tbh. Good player. Would moonwalk into our side. You would like your expensive winger to trouble Luke Shaw when Shaw has played 70 minutes more.

LionOfGosforth
You would like your expensive winger to trouble Luke Shaw when Shaw has played 70 minutes more. He's been here 5 minutes, doesn't speak the language, has barely trained, probably isn't even nearly match fit and hardly knows his team mates. Of course he should belt onto the pitch and start murdering full backs away from home when we're defending for our lives man.
Unlucky Luque
FFS, his first touch was an excellent piece of skill. Calm down children

Collage
Touch of Robert about him More of a Ginola for me. Robert wasn't really a dribbler, more about pace.
Holloway
Is he supposed to be quick? Ben Arfa, with a couple of Gregg's stocked saddlebags
Ikon
He's going to be class for us, i promise.
Alberto2005
Ben Arfa wasn't lightening quick, but was extremely quick dribbling. I think Thauvin will be the same.
Mole_Toonfan
It's about acceleration and agility really, Perez gets away from his markers very easily because of it. I don't think Thauvin will have an issue really.
Dave
I didn't think he looked slow.
triggs
Ben Arfa wasn't lightening quick, but was extremely quick dribbling. I think Thauvin will be the same. Ben Arfa was pretty fucking quick like. Tremendous pace over the first 5-10 yards
Mole_Toonfan
I didn't think he looked slow. Neither did i, he didn't get away from his marker on one occasion and he never really looked in control of the ball when that happened anyway. He'll be fine. Ikon
Thauvin is quick and agile, but most importantly he has acceleration. And i really like the drop of a shoulder and a sudden change of speed and direction. He will draw alot of attention and open up space for other players. Tiresias
Sheer speed can be one way, but another is the ability to beat a man when you're not expected too, can leave a whole defense a pace or two behind a winger if everyone had just stepped up expecting to come away with the ball. Sudden shifts in momentum are better than flat out speed imo. Flat out speed can be good against teams that play very high but good acceleration is good against everyone
Ikon
There's a reason why Shaw "slipped" when Thauvin got fouled in our half.
Altamullan
Didn't notice him that much today, due to nature of the game/time he had. But I'm clinging on to that one move with Haidara, who missed great opportunity (otherwise H had some great moments) to return the ball into space for Florian to fly into. With time, and a fair wind, we've got some quite exceptional ball players in this squad. Looking forward to watching them work it out.
Interpolic
Got a very good feeling about this lad, think he'll do well.
Gallowgate Toon
Ben Arfa wasn't that fast over distance, IMO. It was all about his acceleration. I saw Thauvin play for Bastia once and he seemed similar. Not quite as explosive but still very quick off the mark, certainly no slouch once he got going and one of those that looks faster with the ball. He'll take some time to adapt, I think, but I reckon the nature of this league will really get the best out of him (based on little ).
St1pe
I thought he showed a real desire to close down as well. Considering Mitrovic was at times loitering around the right back spot doing the job Obertan should have been doing, in comparison I thought Thauvin looked an obvious improvement at both ends of the pitch. He was unlucky with that break at the end too. If the ball had been at anyone other that Cisse's feet we would have likely punished them in that situation. ExiledGeordie
If you've got great acceleration and ball control and can properly attack defenders it can open up space for others. Hoping he has that effect for Winjaldum, Sissoko etc....
Belfast Boy
McLaren was very keen to point out he had discussed exactly where he expects Thauvin to play in the team. Once everyone is fit I wonder whether that will be on the left or the right.
themanupstairs
He had the most important touch in the lead-up to our last minute chance. It was him that set Wijnaldum on his way with a first time pass into space. The guy barely touched the ball yesterday and someone on here isn't impressed that he didn't get Luke Shaw to consider retirement because he had played 70 more minutes.
