Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

It's almost as if his 1 in, well, 1 season never happened.

I suppose a full year is just form eh?

Yes yes we all know Alan Pardew made him play s*** and fluff easy chances.

Is the rest of his career just luck?

He's not been that great in top flight football. Not as good as Torres or bent.

Technically his goals to game ratio in the top flight is better than their's (based on a quick wiki).

65 goals in 138 games (or 77 in 161 if you include internationals) , what am I missing here?

28 and had 1.5 good top flight seasons in his career.

Why he played so few games in the top flight until the last few seasons I have no idea (late bloomer I suppose) but the fact is his goals to game ratio has been good to excellent since then and that ratio also follows to his international career.

International - goal every 1.91 games

2009-2010 - goal every 2.66 games

2010-2011 - goal every 1.41 games

2011-2012 - goal every 1.4 games

2012-2013 - goal every 3.6 games

So one bad season out of the last 4 as far as goals to games and at least 2 excellent seasons overall (you seem to be ignoring the first half of 2011-2012 before he came here with that 1.5 seasons comment).  Which one looks the odd one out?

Also as bad as his record was last season it was still better than Bent's.

Scored more than 1 goal in every 2 games in 2 of his last 3 seasons. Your 1.5 needs to be at least a 2.

Apparently he doesn't fancy moving to the Russian League.

Interested to see where he ends up, can't see him going to Germany or over here. Think he'll end up going to Spain.

Wow.. Shame we didn't get him in Jan for around half that amount.

Aye its a real shame ASSE had no interest in selling him for that much or in that window. Its also a shame we cant sign Messi for £15m

They were prepared to sell for less than half the figures being talked about now. The problem was that they'd just reached a final and he wanted to stay. Horrible luck.

He has been described by insiders as “perfect” for Newcastle next season, with the club understood to want to move closer to the 4-3-3 formation which proved successful at the back end of the 2011-12 campaign.

Hatem Ben Arfa, who was injured for large chunks of last season, has been earmarked for a major role and Aubameyang would slot into that system as well as any of Newcastle’s targets.

Interadesting.

Yep, not ideal price-wise but it's possible we might still get him if we've already been in contact and he doesn't have an offer from a top club yet. Still unlikely, but seems weird his agent is contacting us.

They said this in January after we bid.

A club statement suggested that Newcastle were not the only side hunting Aubameyang's signature.

It read: "Following the rumours that have appeared in the media linking Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang with a move to Newcastle, AS Saint-Etienne wish to make clear that the player, his agent and the club have collectively agreed to refuse all offers made thus far."

Doesnt sound like a money issue at all really.  :undecided:

I'm sure money wasn't the reason we didn't get him then, I just mean he will be more expensive now. Not that that really makes sense, since he was never available at the cheaper price anyway. Sigh.

That wasnt to you, was in response to inochi saying they were prepared to sell.

The statement was released, at his request, after they won in the semi. He wanted to stay to win a trophy with them.

They said they didnt want to sell. Thats the only thing that matters, unless you have something to prove otherwise i dont see the point in arguing it  :undecided:
