Skeletor
Fair play to them, given themselves a great chance when relegation looked almost certain. http://media.giphy.com/media/f8oqjTlp0PdMA/giphy.gif
Belfast Mags
I said ages ago that if they stayed up I'd applaude them for it. Seriously though, do I actually have to do it?

matta
Atleast if Sunderland manage to stay up, we actually have 2 games to look forward to next year.

TaylorJ_01
Trebs ffs I had my first at the weekend and there's no way people that drink them can have a fully-functioning brain, let alone be a professional athlete.

Incognito
I see Wimbledon have been docked 3 points for fielding an ineligible player today. Surely these lot should get the same punishment?
TheHoob
Back in dog with two dicks mode again, I see. Almost inevitable. I hope the players are as cocksure they are staying up, they aren't out of it yet.

Hasn't our punishment already been decided months ago though? Surely they can't punish us twice?

Then those in charge would have to alter one of the punishments I would think.

It can't find anything about why the Wimbledon player was ineligible but i'm guessing it's different to the Sunderland case which was just an admin error. Dr.Spaceman
Can't see why this would affect Sunderland in any way.

Dr.Spaceman
As has been said, it's slightly different circumstances.
Guest Roger Kint
Can't see why this would affect Sunderland in any way. Because everyone else doing that have been docked points. The rule with international registration clearly states only a fine is paid as the player is effectively registered already in the normal sense iirc(its posted in this thread a few pages back). The rule they broke wasnt the same as other cases that were docked points.
Unbelievable
Can't see why this would affect Sunderland in any way. Because everyone else doing that have been docked points. The rule they broke wasnt the same as other cases that were docked points. I think the rule says that may be sufficient punishment at the discretion of the authorities to be fair. I can see why the club that goes down at their expense (if it happens) will make a case of it, especially as it has been swept under the carpet by both the FA and the club until recently. geordiesteve710
I think it's also to do with one being a PL club and one being a FL club. On paper the two organisations have different and separate rules and regulations. In practice, the FL has in the past docked points for fielding ineligible players and applies this consistently. On the other hand after the West Ham fiasco in 2007 I don't see how the PL will ever be able to dock points for fielding ineligible players, especially in this case with it being a much less serious offence.
