The Battle For More Points than 2010/11 - SUCCESS!

Recommended Posts

Its points total from last 38 games mate.

Not quite. I believe it is last seasons table with the results from this season replacing the same game from last season as they occur. So, for example, today Nut will have replaced last seasons loss at Spurs with today's win.

If we could keep the team playing as we have done over the last couple of games we could be vying for champoins league spots come january. Apart from ManU and the Arse, our run of games up to the transfer window are all reasonably winnable....

I wonder if anyone at the club is analysing this and trying to work out why we are so shit in the 2nd quarter.

I guess the simple answer is lack of squad depth, so once injuries and suspensions kick in we struggle to get by till the January window.

5 games to get 7 points to equal the 5th placed finish.

West Brom (H)

Swansea (A)

Man U (A)

Southampton (H)

Crystal Palace (A)

Can see us doing it.

Should really get 7 points from that.

Palace is the only game - from that lot - where I'd be seething with anything other than three points. Pulis might rejuvenate them, but there's no way they should be staying up and, if they do, it'll be by the skin of their teeth. We're miles, miles better than them.

But it's not a run of fixtures where I'd be saying "ten points bare minimum!" Ten is certainly within our grasp, but... West Brom have picked up some good results and have some talented players, Swansea are a solid team, Old Trafford, So'ton are good. 8 points would be a fair return. 10 would be great. Anything more would represent an absolutely tremendous run of form post-Mackems.

Ridiculously tight as it stands:

Here are the next 3 games of the top 9 which will be played in 6-7 days span.

Arsenal  - Cardiff (a), Hull, Everton

Liverpool - Hull (a), Norwich, Westham,

Chelsea  - Southapton, Sunderland (a), Stoke (a)

City        - Swansea, WBA (a), Southapton (a)

South      - Chelsea (a), Villa, City

United    - Spurs (a), Everton, Newcastle

Everton    - Stoke, Utd (a), Arsenal (a)

Newc      - WBA, Swansea (a), Utd (a)

Spurs      - Utd, Fulham (a), Sunderland (a)

I like the look of this. Should sort out the tightness a bit.
