Tsunami
We're safe, don't want to qualify for the Europa League and won't pay a penny more than we have to. Any incoming player is seen as an investment and if the club don't believe there's "value" in the signing they'll not do it. It may make business sense but it's utterly depressing as a supporter wanting the club to be the best they can be. Know your place - mediocrity. TRon
Best scouting networks? Steady on. We're extremely adept at identifying players that improve the squad. There are few clubs who have had as many "hits" as we have over the past two to three years. It should be obvious to anyone, otherwise by rights we should have been relegated with a net spend like that.

TaylorJ_01
@lee_ryder: Sylvain Marveaux has held talks with Alan Pardew. Obviously he wants to play or leave the club. #nufc I'd rather he left the club. Oh, you meant Marveaux?

You could argue Cissé is the odd one after being turboshit from his 15th game, but it's still harsh to call him a bad signing.

Hanshithispantz
Doesn't our scouting network consist of 1 man looking for players in France who are cheap due to get out clauses and ending contracts? We've made good, but fairly obvious signings pretty much all from 1 country. If it is one of the best scouting networks in the league then the rest are rubbish. jdckelly
Bid rejected? More here on Newcastle's pursuit of Benfica schemer Filip Djuricic here. Portuguese newspaper Record is reporting that the Toon have had a €10million bid for the 22-year-old rejected. The Serbian international cost the Portuguese giants €6million in the summer and has a €40million release clause, but has failed to settle at the club. He was reportedly also disappointed to see his compatriot Nemanja Matic leave the club, when the midfielder joined Chelsea earlier this month. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/newcastle-transfer-news-live-magpies-3095948#ixzz2ryyjpVaL

jdckelly
apparently it comes from Benfica themselves so either its real, Ashley's ability to control the media is far greater than expected or benfica are lying badly to make themselves look better. Duncan Castles @DuncanCastles 6m Benfica say they have rejected approach from Newcastle for Filip Djuricic. Not interested in selling. #SLB #NUFC
