LoveItIfWeBeatU
When does this £70m actually come into play? I assume the clubs receive the money at the end of the season. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/competitions/premier-league/10072297/New-Premier-League-TV-deal-promises-100m-prize-money-for-next-seasons-title-winners.html
Mole_Toonfan
There will be no mass-rebuild. It'll be bare minimum. I know Mike Ashley likes to gamble but he could well be gambling with NUFC's Premier League status if we don't buy quite a few decent players in the Summer. Like I said the other day, he'll risk losing the £70m TV income if he doesn't spend in the Summer. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-fTeQHH3gTno/TuEre1hRbRI/AAAAAAAAA5A/S8og3IrbZdI/s1600/clutching_at_straws.jpg
midds
Why bother investing? They'll "go with what they've got" this summer and invest, if necessary, next January if it's looking hairy. Minimal investment to ensure survival.
Dave
When we finished 5th the board thought we'd simply do it again if we kept the same players. If we finish top half this season I don't see why the strategy will be much different. I do think we'll probably replace Cabaye though, and even our lot can't fail to notice we won't have any strikers.
LoveItIfWeBeatU
My point is if he doesn't bother he could well be kissing goodbye to the £70m TV money and and his asset (the club) will be hugely devalued by being relegated. If all he cares about is staying in the Premier League then he's going to have to spend money to do that. If he doesn't then we'll probably suffer due to his stupidity. We've been on TV loads from memory. Adding the Cabaye money, we should be fucking loaded considering the previous accounts. Righto.
Teasy
Wonga deal started this season so the first payment will be this year right? So that's £6m extra per season there as well.
