Poch has been up and down since leaving Spurs, but he's always been good at developing young teams, and he fought hard to defend the age of his crop at Chelsea. They really are clueless if they thought a change was the way to go after the way Chelsea finished the second half of the season.
LionOfGosforth
Astounding stuff Chelsea. Those owners might have all the money to throw at the problem, but not an ounce of common sense or humility to learn from what other clubs around them are doing. The key in most cases, is trust and stability in the manager and that is something that Chelsea just never seem to want. Crazy. But also fucking amazing for the rest of the league. They were an undoubted threat to the 3-6 spots next year, now they'll be bringing in another coach with different ideas and strengths up to speed and once he's getting things right, they'll sack him and start all over again because some Yank nerd with some expensive software said so. Brilliant.

Brilliant. The key to what? Chelsea managed to be plenty successful chopping and changing all the time. Because they had coherent thinking everywhere else in the organisation and lots of money. They don't have that anymore. For having a gazillion players, all young, Poch did ok and was finding a real groove.

Just because Chelsea had success chopping and changing previously, doesn't make it a good call now. Their structure and personnel was very different and they could throw limitless money at it before PSR. You can't seriously think getting rid of Poch in the manner that they did, after improving considerably, was a good move?
BGRM
Seems mad that Bayern are wanting Kompany. Must be quite far down their list of managers now: Xavi Alonso Nagelsmann Ralf Ragnick Vincent Kompany Frank Lampard Steve Bruce

I think "stability" in management is over-rated. Get the best manager possible for the club. Liverpool & City have 2 of the best managers ever. Arsenal deserve credit for sticking with Arteta tbf. But they've backed him to the hilt and they let Emery go pretty quickly. Moat important thing is having stable and good leadership at the very top. Your Roman's, Levy's, Dein's etc. Chelsea don't have that which is the main reason they are in the mud (and have sacked Poch). Abacus
This has to be down to Poch more than Chelsea. Was reading that he wanted more control of transfers (you can hardly blame him given their previous scattergun approach) and they said no, hence they agreed to part ways. I imagine he scarpered from the mess. You also wonder what room they'd have anyway given all the hotel / training ground stuff. But he's proved himself to be pretty decent pulling that lot round from the rabble they were early in the season, albeit with some talented players to work with. What decent manager goes there now, given it seems they need CL as the target for their finances, but then you don't get enough say in transfers to guarantee it? Watch them try to sell Connor Gallagher to themselves now.

Lacking managerial stability is fine when there are a ton of quality candidates to assess and potentially hire. What Chelsea are doing is mad. If Poch is "not a strategic fit", why on earth did they hire him in the first place? Well, probably because he was the biggest name available at the time and therefore the right man. I saw Nagelsman mentioned somewhere. Why would he want to uproot from Germany, only to get the boot 6 months into a new life in London and have to go through that hassle? Stability matters because there's a huge squad of players that have been bought under several different coaches and regimes. A squad of human beings who were starting to buy into the manager's beliefs. Now a new coach has to come in and mould that into something. He better do it quickly too because the next shiny new toy is already being looked at probably. There's a human cost that they don't seem to give a flying fuck about. There may come a time when the allure of West London and a top salary will fade next to the inevitable upheaval and instability that getting sacked brings and suddenly the conveyor belt of good coaches will dry up. Judging by the current candidate list, they may already be at that point.

If he's the next big thing then they'll have to pay less compensation from Ipswich than they would if he was at a more established Prem club this time next year like Brighton. Getting promotion last season with Ipswich was a great achievement I agree it's a risk but you can see why clubs may want to snap him up before other teams get him
Gaztoon
Don't see the logic in him leaving Ipswich. Go to Brighton and anywhere outside the top half is seen as a failure.. just staying up with Ipswich increases his reputation. Atleast give Ipswich a year.
GeordieDazzler
I think Brighton put out their interest in McKenna as a social experiment to see how many of the big clubs would take the bait. Talented coach no doubt but got promoted shipping more goals than Sheffield, from a selfish point of view he should jump at what’s is offered to him now as his stock may not be as high by Christmas. Brighton would be the sensible option but money talks.

Bimpy474
Yeah and if he doesn't get into the top 4 inside 5 games or so, they'll sack him You'd be mad to go to Chelsea, you couldn't build anything there. I suppose the pay off will be nice though.

He’ll not bring any of these clubs immediate success, and these clubs have zero interest in building something sustainable, so he’ll get chewed up and spit out and they’ll bring in the next flavor of the month.
