His methods had reached their expiry date when he left us, 15 years ago.

Older posters may recall at the time he then went to Sunderland, I said on here what would happen there. Which is exactly what happened.

This must surely just be a figurehead temporary ship steadying move.

So is O'Neill generally looked upon not that favourably by Villa fans? Looking at the basic facts - three consecutive 6th placed finishes, followed by a very slow and inevitable march towards a hideous relegation a few years later - you'd assume he's seen as one of the better PL Villa managers?

He did exactly what he was given at Celtic and Villa.

At Celtic he had the better budget so dominated. At Villa he had the 6th best budget and go them to 6th, but spent most of the money on players who failed at the other 5 clubs instead or searching for some potential.

Only at Leicester where he won the League Cup could you say he overachieved at.

yes he is, but he was never going to take us any higher as his “slap the lads in the back, encourage them to run a lot” coaching style was practically dead.

The thing most Villa fans will tell you tainted his legacy was him fucking off three days before the start of the season.

I think this is probably the reasoning behind the appointment of Dyche at Forest as well. He will steady the ship and make them hard to beat, but at some point they will want to move forward again.

Win the FA cup at Leicester I think.

Will Still and Liam Manning surely

Came in here to post about Will Still, surely a goner first thing Monday.

I am surprised by him though, unsure if it was social media hype or he was just riding a wave over in France, real struggled since coming back over here.

Wasn't Still's other half having health issues, hence him wanting to be back in the UK

Imagine Bruce in Scotland, deep fried mars bars for breakfast every day

A load of absolute fuckwits and media cucks this week saying 'old head' managers like Bruce should have more of a place in the game (after O'Neill's appointment).
