That goal :fwap:

Superb isn't it. Casillas at fault for another goal on the big stage in the space of 3 weeks, mind.

Don't think there was much he could do about that, was the perfect header. So good.

What? No keeper in the world would have kept that out man..

He's a tiny goalkeeper. He shouldn't be that far off his line, and any keeper will concur.

99 out of 100 forwards would have tried to control that with their chest. Coming out was the correct decision.

RVP knew what he was doing. If Casillas had stayed on his line, RVP would've simply changed his tactic, brought the ball down and shot, or even volleyed it first time. Nothing any keeper could've done there, RVP was in the 'zone' per se.

What's he meant to do about that ffs

Serious?

Absolutely, if RVP had brought that down and Casillas stayed on his line you'd have criticised. Nothing he could do about that IMO.

He was a bit off his line and that put the idea into RVP's head.

Precisely. Not sure how people can't see that. It was an orchestrated headed lob precisely because he saw where the keeper was.

Well, if he wasn't he'd have given Van Persie time to control it for an easy finish and would have been criticised quite rightly for not coming out. Just a brilliant goal rather than a goalkeeper error imho.

There's something poetic about Spain passing the ball around for 40 minutes to get 1 goal, then have Holland play one ball over the top and equalize right at the end of the half.

It's kind of beautiful.

Spain have been trying quite a few early balls over the top though and are looking for the striker a lot quicker than in the past.

Exactly, all based on a stereotype that's not really accurate anymore.

Spain still play possession football, as the stats will no doubt show. They're more purposeful than in the past but they're still desperate to hang on to the ball as much as possible.

I'm not advocating needless hoofing, either. I just like the contrast of a team doing so much work to have it all undone so easily by one good counter.

Is that a Phil Jones impression?

Shefki Kuqi impression

I'd forgotten about him

So had he, that's how shit he was.
