That fabled English "bottle" has served us well

in the national team like. Where we've bottled every single tournament to date

Consistently reaching the quarter finals?

Hardly an achievement.

Who the fuck said it was?

Alreet, calm down.

Sunderland's players were just so much more up for it, whether it was the British players, Cattermole, Fletcher, O Shea, Bardsley, Johnson, Colback, or Larsson and Cuellar, it just meant more to them as it did when they beat us 3-0. Pardew is responsible for motivating his players and must accept a lot of the blame, but the players really need to ask themselves what the f*** they think they are doing playing for NUFC. The club is rotten from top to bottom.

I can't understand how that British core was more up for it than our foreign core twice in a row, it really puzzles me. Can't wait till the 3rd defeat in a row to still ponder this great f***ing mystery.

It's not a mystery at all. First time round they had a new manager just before the derby. We had been utter shite, and coming off a Pards midweek excuse. This time round, they have a new manager playing his first home game. Desperate for a win. Sunder1and. Bottom of the league. Etc..etc.. I'd say the circumstances have played into their hands quite a bit on both occasions. That's not absolving any salaried member of NUFC from blame, but come on. It's nowt to do with them being foreign.

Here they come, the 'British Clogger' brigade. Thank f*** I don't have to watch Keegan and Bobby's British cloggers any longer.

  aye, i'd much rather watch the current lot over those legendary teams. You've been after "those certain posters" all day long. We all support the same club ffs.

I'd far rather have our squad over the course of a season than the mackems'. It's been a couple of humiliating defeats no doubt, but nothing that can't be squarely blamed on the manager and his obvious bravery. British blood and thunder Pards.

We all know (the 3 or 4 forum WUMs/idiots notwithstanding) that the manager is totally out of his depth. It doesn't excuse the lack of fight shown by the players for the past year or so.

Sundelrand were picking up all the loose balls, winning the headers and had more drive to go forwards.  Not sure why Pardew set us up to sit off them and allow them to pick up all the loose balls etc. Cattermole was always in s*** loads of space. We made him look like Pirlo

Canty believe Shitdrew had a week to plan for this game and churned that out.

What a grade a plabbington. Needs to be given a leathal injection.

Horribly true that about Cattermole. He's dog, and we made him look mega

we gave him 15 yards of space all game- were we scared of him?

CP40 was raging, not one of our players or pardew twigged that Cattermole was starting all the play off from the back, always given loads of space and time.

There's an obvious lack of harmony in the background. That is certain. The cliques thing has got to be true. We look disjointed in every department. As someone already said, Away Toon I think it was, the club is rotten from top to bottom. What we are witnessing on the pitch is but a symptom of it all.

 horrendous to see, he was basically waltzing around the middle of the park,  no one near him. With three in mid we should dominate.

Yup. He Cabaye'd us basically.

The biggest coward is the Englishman standing near the touch line.

 Exactly. That whole argument is nonsense, imo. They're professional footballers and understand the gravitas of a rivalry, regardless of where they come from - even if they don't feel it in the same way that we do. The players have been infected with a negative attitude from the manager, ever since we lost 4-0 at Wigan. It doesn't absolve a lack of heart from certain individuals, but the manager is chiefly responsible in this situation.

Just about every side who've done anything in the PL have had a spine of British players.

??? Not disputing that. I'm not talking about winning the league. I'm talking about not having a negative approach to individual football matches.

I hate the "lets sink to their level" attitude in our football. Just does my head in.

Too many English cloggers in the coaching staff

It's as simple as that.

We only have 3 staff and one of them is a GK, the other was Steve Stone that well remembered clogger machine . And Carver who never really played.

The only real clogger in pro footy was Pardew.

Today was nothing to do with cowardice or too many foreigners or players lacking drive and desire.

Yet again we put a team out, filled with players out of their natural positions, with the usual game plan of keep everything tight at the back and hope that one of Remy, Ben Arfa or Cabaye can conjure up a piece of magic.  When the game plan didn't work (and considering the way in which Sunderland approached the game it was never likely to work) we had absolutely no backup plan, no other ideas on how to win the game.

We just kept on repeating the same old shit that doesn't work no matter who we play against.  We get wide players to run to the byline & they get crosses in that are utterly useless, they're either too high, too close to the keeper or too far away from any of our players (when there are any in the box at all) to be of any use to anyone.  When they can't get a cross in they pass the ball to a midfielder to take a long shot, it might work out occasionally and we'll get a goal from long range once every two or three games but it'll rarely be enough to actually win a game.  How many times today did any of our players play a diagonal ball through their defence for a forward to run on to?  How many times did we even try?

No one who has even a most basic passing interest in football could look at the shit that we served up today & think That's how football should be played!.  We lost today because yet again we put out a side that was not prepared properly for the game and had no fucking clue how to adapt when the games doesn't go exactly according to plan.  There's a quote attributed to a Prussian General Helmuth von Moltke No battle plan ever survives contact with the enemy, all our preparation and training for games means fuck all if the players on the pitch can't adapt to the game they're actually playing.

It's a failure of one fuckwit and his shite backroom staff.

So which English players could we realistically add to this squad who'd be an improvement over the current lot? Not many.

Teams that have done well in the league may have done so with English players forming a core of their squad. It doesn't hurt that those English players include the likes of Rooney, Lampard, Terry, Lescott, Cole, Ferdinand, and Carrick. We're not exactly close to attracting English players of that caliber.
