Tbh, we havent heard any mentions of Pardew being even close to getting the sack from the club, i think he will still be here regardless of the result. Hope i am wrong of course.

Hopefully a thrashing and the Ben Arfa/Pardew banners next week will finish him off.

I just don't see it. Even looking at his interviews, he's talking about the players lined up to come in this summer etc, he's very obviously been given assurances from MA.

Unfortunately if the club had any appetite to sack Pardew they would have done it after the Meyler incident? So frustrating.

Looking back, we were still just about doing well in the league not too far off Everton & Man Utd at that time. There's valid footballing reasons to sack him.

Through the headbutt fiasco and the poor run of form i never thought he'd get the sack, until yesterday. If he can survive that he can survive anything. Although how he looks Mike Ashley in the eye is beyond me, much less his family and his wife. Ffs sake can you imagine breakfast in the Pardew house this morning? Alan staring at the orange juice as his mrs scrambles some eggs, cause all he can think of is the sound of 50,000 geordies booing him back to the bench.

Left field little bit, little bit over the top, local rags didnt help a little bit, fans little bit frustration, offer fret little bit, little bit of positive winning mentality, the most important fing rise above.

Think our protest would be much more effective if we got his Mrs involved actually, get her to boo him every time he tries something, until he gives up and goes and hides in his chair in the living room.

Why would the club put it out even if they were considering sacking him? In any case I'm okay with it either way. If Ashley wants to stick with Pardew and his plan to buy not quite good enough English players, then the mounting hostility in the stands should provide some entertainment.

She already does. He comes in from work and says "Honey I'm home", she goes "Boo" and he has to retreat to the casino. He goes to climb into bed with her and she goes "Boo", so he has to retreat to the spare bedroom. He goes to have his way with her and she goes "Boo", so he has to go and shag one his players' wives.

they've built up up a huge following worldwide over the past 40 years and are a massive name, hence the huge sponsorship deals.

You'd be hard pushed to make a case that their success this season is down to that. They've got good players and a manager that has wrung the absolute best out of all of them.

Clubs like ours (and the Premier League in general) want you to think it's all about money but it isn't. Of course it helps but there's nothing (other than fear and defeatism) to stop a club like Newcastle doing what Atletico Madrid have done over the last three years - both are a very similar size in terms of stadium and revenue. Get the right manager and go from there.

Bang on. Rodgers has them playing very well. And that's it.

Why can't we appoint a manager capable of implementing a style of football & some belief from the players consistently?

Yep, it can be done. It is difficult but that's part of the fun of it.

Manager is the key like.

I'm still amazed how well Simeone has done, he won a couple of short championships in Argentina but had more than enough poor seasons to counteract the suggestion he might be some sort of wizard. Some achievement, although I think being a club legend at Atletico has massively helped his cause.

 It's meant to be, it's elite sport.

I can accept "that's going to be incredibly fucking hard but we can try and there's a good chance we'll fail, but then we'll go again"

What I can never accept is "blimey that's hard, let's not bother eh?"

And nor should anyone else, no matter what team they support.

Exactly. That's what fucks me off about Pardew more than anything. It's easy to point the finger of blame at Ashley (and I hate the guy as much as most) but AP has been given a squad littered with internationals. All he's got to do is find a way of making them play.

You can't tell me that a Martinez or a Rodgers would need to spend that much money to get this core capable of playing to a level where fans would be happy:

Krul

Debuchy

Colo

MYM

Santon

Anita

Tiote

Sissoko

HBA

All it really needs is a top forward (or two) and a Cabaye-esque midfielder and we would be away.

Those players are not shit. They are capable of so much more given the right environment.
