jdckelly
apart from a 10-15 period after the goal in the match we matched City or were better for most of the game and the set up of the team was a big reason for that, sadly when opportunities came either the player in question screwed up (Remy at least once maybe the 2nd one as it was right at Hart) or the Ref just disallowed it. themanupstairs
Completely failed to capitalise on a Man City side who stopped playing after 25 minutes. Tiote goal aside, he should have made an attacking change (Ben Arfa for Gouffran/Sissoko) far earlier in the 2nd half and taking Anita off was f***ing sackless. We'll never get a better chance to get a result against this City side. Thats massively assuming that the formation & players he'd chosen werent the specific reason for Man City playing at that level. I wish he would have forgotten we were playing Man City for once, and just gone for it regardless of the opposition. I was very impressed with our response to their goal particularly with our shape and defending. Anita was the outstanding man of the match by a long long mile, including MC's players. Taking him off was a cardinal sin, especially as he wasn't on a yellow, and didn't look like running out of steam. To the contrary, he was growing in stature in the final third. Assuming we were the reason Man City played the majority of the game in 2nd gear, it's completely useless stopping the opposition playing when you're not doing anything in return to reduce the deficit. Remy chance aside. HBA should have been on early in the 2nd half, if not starting. We're desperately short in attack without him.
Dokko
We've played really well against Liverpool, arsenal, Manu, Chelsea, Tottenham and citeh. Shame he can't get them going against the like of west ham, hull, stoke & the mackunts. Cisse for Anita sub aside he got it right all game.
Guest palnese
We made City look very ordinary today. Credit to Pardew for that. On the other hand his subs were terrible. Anita had a brilliant game, and should never have been subbed. We need a striker asap, as we never really look like scoring at all. A few random chances here and there, but it's not good enough. That's been the case all season. The quality in the final third of the pitch is woeful at best.
olliemort
What a joke taking Anita off. Gouffran was awful should have being taken off at half time. If that was Ben arfa not tracking his man he would have being taken off and not back in the side for another 20yrs!
alexf
Sorry but I'm sick to death of this guy's negativity. Just waits and waits as the game drifts by. Cisse for Anita was absolutely retarded.
TRon
Why can't we play that positively against the shit teams man. Fucking winds me up. I'm not sure that was anything to do with him. We went behind and the Tiote goal got everyone fired up, but in the first half we still weren't getting players into their penalty area. Most of our efforts were long range. David28
Bringing Cisse on for Anita was basically his only mistake today. He's not at fault for that defeat.

Remy was through on goal twice from it, Saylor was onside at the end. Today we outplayed them through short decisive passing, rarely did any of our players try to go past several of theirs. If Ben Arfa comes on & isnt perfect the way he tries to make a singular decisive contribution could just as easily lead to counter attacks. We all know he tries to much as a sub. It was a HUGE mistake though, and undid all the good work we had done all game long. City were barely a threat after they scored. We had the ball, the momentum and the crowd were well fired up until that sub. Killed the game with 20 minutes left.

He's not at fault for that defeat. the theory of that sub is fine imho, Cabaye is the most likely to create something out of nothing and Tiote is better at winning the ball than Anita, unfortunately Cisse seems completely done as a striker

Of course it normally makes sense to bring on a striker for a def. midfielder. But not if it's Cisse.

If that was down to us then fair play, it's a debatable point how much is down to us stifling them and them just not being at their best. Whichever it is the fact is we could have got a result here today and didn't, not helped by the awful decisions in the 2nd half, keeping Gouffran on until the 80 oddth minute, taking Anita off and leaving Benny with 15 minutes to go. I agreed with the starting line-up (even playing Taylor as I said pre-game) bar not starting Ben Arfa ahead of Gouffran or Sissoko. And other than a nightmare start I think we played really well up until the final 3rd where the same problems keep popping up. Mainly the fucking abortionate crossing into the box. Mick
He should have made at least one change at half time when the crowd were up for it but no he makes changes to his watch. Bringing Anita off was stupid.

We stifled City by playing an extra midfielder, but that left us short up front. It wasn't a bad tactic against them, but the problem is going to be against sides like West Ham and Sunderland where we need to win, and we won't do it without forwards on the pitch.
