Figures 1-0 Football
Swansea have hired someone that did a worse job than Steve McClaren at Derby. Someone who has no pedigree as a manager at all. Like Schteve - may be suited to being a Assistant better. Hull have hired someone you've never heard of. You can form no opinion on his ability. They may prove to be masterstrokes but I don't see how you can come to that conclusion now at all. Alright there Paul Merson How have you come to the conclusion I know nothing of Hull's manager? And refer back to what Joey said for my response to the Swansea situation. Not sure how either of the new managers can be considered less competent than Mike Phelen and Bob Bradley like You do half talk some s*** sometimes, usually just for attention. Not that I rate Bob Bradley but how is Clement considered more competent than him based on what we've seen of both? One would presume that a chap who has been retained by one of the better managers around (I wont use the term 'best' as it's quite individual), at some of the biggest clubs in the world is reasonably competent. He also has a very good reputation from nearly every single person that has spoken about him (from players, to pundits and other managers). Add that into the fact that he was very harshly sacked in his only managerial appointment somewhat prematurely and you get a good idea. Each to their own, I think they've made a major improvement and have given themselves every chance of surviving in what was a very limited market for them to find a manager. Figures 1-0 Football
BBC reporting that Costa has been dropped due to a fitness argument and not a transfer one. Striker Diego Costa has been left out of the Chelsea squad to face Leicester on Saturday after a dispute with a coach over his fitness. The Spain international has not trained this week and has not travelled for the Premier League leaders' match with the defending champions (17:30 GMT). The news comes amid reports he is the subject of an offer to move to China that would be worth £30m a year. Costa, 28, has scored 14 goals and provided five assists this season. It is understood Blues owner Roman Abramovich is not interested in releasing him from his contract, which expires in 2019, and would not entertain the idea of being forced to do so. Ryan
I'd be a bit gutted if Costa did go to China, he's one of those players I love watching because you never know what he's going to do next. Might bag a wonder goal, might go radge at the referee.

duo
£30m a year is truly mental. Hope Chelsea dig in. Are the leagues in China governed by FIFA? If so they need to put a stop to this (i.e. wage cap) as it's just getting out of control. I cannot blame these players for going as the money being offered is on another level. But if something isn't done the best leagues in the world are going to be ruined by this.

It's no different to what serie a done in the 80s and 90s and la Liga and the premier league since. Teams like Ajax and Anderlecht used to be European powers, Ajax winning 4 European cups the chance of them winning a 5th is zero now because of money

If they can 'afford' it then let them go ahead. It's only what our country has been doing for the past 25 years. Or do you think all of these top players have been coming here for the rich footballing history and top-class Britiah culture?
