Doesn't stop my curiosity lol.

Also makes me wonder if it's a signal of intent about Ashley and his long term future.

Got to just hope now he is trying to get his money back to sell - think it be a few years yet though as sports direct have boomed since he has owned the club.

@JimWhite: Hearing that highly-rated centre-back Mehdi Benatia on his way from AS Roma to Manchester United. #MUFC #ASRoma

Nooooo  :(

If he was to leave I thought it would only be for Barcelona.

Thought by now people would have known not to take Man Utd related rumours seriously.

Thiago, Fabregas, Schweinsteiger, Hummels, Vidal, Di Maria, Kroos etc have all been done deals according to media in the last 2 summers.

Woodward is a true PR genius.

Keeps the fans happy in the transfer muppetry mode all summer with all the shiny names. The Vidal thread on RedCafe has 551 pages !!!! ......what happens after September 1st is another story of course

Having said that, what sort of a total idiot goes out and publicly says we have 200M pounds to spend....literally, wtf.

Looks like Benatia may now be off to Bayern.

They do need a CB now Martinez is rogered.

 Think they'll have needed a new one even before that, somebody that's a level above what they've currently got which I think he is.

Although Guardiola normally likes to identify squad weaknesses by playing somebody from a different position there.

Think he might well have learnt last season v Real Madrid sometimes there is a need to specialists being played in their proper positions regardless of his seeming dislike for this at times.

I've not really seen Benatia much but giving that he used to be an Udinese player I assume he's decent on the ball anyway.

I know they were a bit shit the other day but people are going over the top about them getting beat in that match (like they did last season) and as soon as the competitive stuff starts they were a different animal.

Even in the DFB-Pokal last season he played that formation and totally nullified Dortmund as well as in the game at Dortmund last year when he played a more direct game and Martinez played further forward he outfoxed Klopp then as well

Here's a canny read about what he's trying to do this season anyway.

Think Lewandowski definitely gives them something extra as for me he's the best out and out centre forward around at the moment.

Not sure if it's just me but it seems to be the in thing at the moment to want Guardiola to fail so people can come out and tell you how overrated he is and he only did what he did at Barcelona because of the players he had to work with.

Don't want him to fail at all, more people like him in the game would only be a good thing but TBF to Bayern they should win every game they play domestically home or away so it's hard to read to much in to domestic games such is their strength compared to everyone else. Just happens that sometimes when you play against the very best, having more than 1 orthodox centre back on the pitch is actually needed whatever you believe. He should know this from his time at Barça who were at their best with the centre pairing and Busquets sweeping/dropping to make a 3.

He can never win everyone over even if he's a roaring success at Bayern people will still say well he couldn't do it (insert small clubs name here)

For the most part people just have unrealistic expectations.
