Jack Colback (now a free agent)

Apart from Mitro, a lot of our taller players are crap in the air. Sissoko, Janmaat & Obertan all suck. Janmaat at the far post is beaten too often for a fullback of his size.

Can't disagree with any of that. Seems odd to say it but Debuchy was arguably better in the air than Janmaat.

Debuchy was class in the air for his size, way better than Janmaat

I think Janmaat has the ability to compete in the air, just he sometimes switches off and gets caught by surprise which is infuriating. He played CB in one game IIRC. It's a shame because he's a fantastic player going forward.

Fitness helps too like. I'm about 4ft3 and all I ever really do is give away free kicks, because my appetite and bravery leads me to climbing on people / pulling them down.

Brave like the hobbits.

No excuse today, we are at home against a lesser team ,Tiote is in there and you know he will be showing for the ball. That's what we need from Colback rather than him. I don't want to see Tiote going past Colback much in this game.

Forgot he and Tiote were playing at times. Such a gaping hole between defence and attack.

That's McClaren's instructions though, been like that every game this season. Has to be.

We've basically lined up:

                            Elliot

              Mbemba          Coloccini    Dummett

                Colback          Anita

Janmaat

      Sissoko

                                  Wijnauldum

            Perez                                  Mitrovic

With the other two nowhere to be seen.

I wonder what we'd look like with a proper midfielder in there? There was one point in the first half where Mbemba was looking for him to take the ball and Colback actually turned his back on him and Mbemba ended up just taking it out himself while Colback jogged into a defensive position behind him.
