Hanshithispantz Posted July 7, 2016 Share Posted July 7, 2016 Well yeah, but they're no where near the level of your average Premiership player, and as a team we'll be one of the strongest there as opposed to one of the weakest. Look at Wayne Routlege for us during our promotion and then during our first season up. Guthrie looked really good, Ameobi had a better than 1 in 2 record. First season here he went through that period of popping up in and around the box and scored a few, there's been a few games too where he's been willing to zip into challenges and play the ball quickly forward, Chelsea 2-2 probably being the best example. He's not an awful footballer by any means, he's an awful Premiership footballer as he's absolutely shit scared and ends up doing silly things like diving over the ball to avoid having to take responsibility and shoot. He would definitely have been replaced if we'd stayed up. Still might be tbh, I would think Rafa would want some grit and mobility in central midfield, but he might make do for this season. He contributes nowt going forward, he can't tackle, he can't stay with his man because hes too slow and his passing game is atrocious above 5-6 yards. If we're being honest, the OTT hatred stems from the fact that he's the anti-footballing hipster prototype. A local player whose strength lies in hard work rather than a bag of tricks or the odd Hollywood pass. A genuine football man like Rafa will be able to get some use out of him.
