Find it hard to hate Pardew.

He was just shite, but gave it a go. 5th place and a euro quarters isn't an awful return.

Not a boot licking, hoop sniffing, cock snorter AND shite like the rest of them

Google any of those terms and you should get endless images of the bloke. It's exactly what he was.

I couldn't think of a more perfect description of Pardew.

Anyway, let's not ruin this week with this bloke's thread near the top of the forum.

What is this Pardew face turn attempt?

Also hilarious listening to him break down our set piece game with Dan Burn when we literally created the term "set penis" to describe his ineptness at planning set pieces.

We ? We created the term, oh did we ? :huff:

I've never been so insulted [emoji38]

I think Pardew is positive about the club because he knows that in normal circumstances he should not have been anywhere near the job, especially when he actually got it. He’s proud of the fact he’s managed us due to that imo and tbh, I do give him kudos for not perpetuating the bollocks about the club and fans in the media that those such as Souness and others involved with the club have done since their time here ended. He could well have done especially after the SP protests.

However, I just can’t forget or forgive the belittling of the club he partook in. ‘We can’t compete against Swansea and Southampton’ being one that’s always stuck in my mind. The second half of 2013-14 was until Bruceball during COVID my NUFC nadir even at 13 year old. The 0-3s against the mackems and the 0-6 to Liverpool, engrained scars on me that he was an enormous part of.

I'll be the devil's advocate here for a second, but if we were to give the narcissist the benefit of the doubt (remembering that his main priority has always been his #1, himself, and that everything else has, and will always be, of less importance to the man) – at the time he spouted those bits of absolute crap to the media, he wasn't really lying, was he? Of course his motivation for saying those things were to prop himself up as "doing a better job than expected given the difficulty of the job"... but that in and of itself doesn't mean that we as a club, during what probably was the worst period of penny-pinching during Ashley's ownership, weren't set-up to compete with, well... anyone, really

Now, if Pards wasn't a narcissist, we'd most likely not have heard him spout that kind of shit in public. I've mentioned my dinner with Pards on here at least a couple of times in the last few years, and the man repeatedly stated how much he liked the club and the fans and wish his time here had been under different circumstances, all whilst calling Ashley every expletive under the sun. His reasons for liking us are deeply rooted in his narcissism and his hatred of Ashley stems more from him feeling Ashley didn't allow him to "push on" after finishing 5th, and not from the general shitness of Ashley's ownership. But, IMO, if you look past the how and why of things when it comes to Pardew's view and opinion of the club and the fans, which are all rooted in him having narcissism and (naturally enough) not being aware of the fact he has it – the guy genuinely likes the club and dislikes Ashley*, so... yeah :dontknow:

*He likes the club because we were the club that allowed his ego to soar higher than it should have been allowed to, and he hates Ashley because he believes he stopped him from soaring even higher in his unearned position as our manager. Whilst that's not the same as liking the club for normal reasons or hating Ashley for logical reasons, at the end of the day he does like us and does dislike Ashley.

Any ex-footballer or manager with a brain should know that being complementary about your former team and fans is just about the most low effort/high reward thing you can do. You don’t even have to mean it, you just have to say a few bland platitudes and you’ll be forgiven for anything in some people’s eyes.

And the likes of Allardyce and Souness won’t even do that. They seem to have genuine contempt for the club and the fans.

I don’t mind any of the other managers personally.  They all tried their best. Some were better than others. Some were smarmy.  The ones with proper professional pride didn’t last long under Ashley.

Not hating doesn't mean I liked him in any way shape or form. I just hated the rest way more.

He’s positive about the club because it makes him look better. That’s it. By associating himself with Newcastle, especially now that we’ve won a trophy it only helps his profile

Both are true - but he never indulged in the ‘impossible to manage / expectations’ pish which made Bruce and Souness the ne plus ultra of shite NUFC managerd

I agree with the above, however I'm prepared to let it go with Pardew.

The difference is that when Pardew left, he speaks fondly of Newcastle. The likes of Souness, Allardyce and Bruce, did nothing but belittle the club and blame the fans.

Pardew falls in the same category as Ruud Guillit, a piss poor manager but I bare no ill will.

We know Pardews personality like but ive also heard that he's genuinely a decent ish bloke behind the scenes, despite the "king" stuff, so that's where I'm at.

It helps that I have no room for hatred since my heart is full of joy mind.

Short memories here, man. This was the bloke that made our eyes bleed for fucking years.

He benefitted MASSIVELY through some sort of recruitment strategy that Ashley stumbled upon which saw Carr find some fucking brilliant footballers, without which he'd have died on his arse.

As the for the 5th season, give this a watch...

Just the kids from Southampton are more intelligent should be enough for anyone.

The astronomical belittling of players, fans and the area should be enough.

The myriad of excuses should be enough.

The man is grade A cunt, and no matter what he says now changes a thing for me.
