Ayozé Pérez (now playing for Villarreal)

Granted the whole Ashley circus was so uninspiring, but for me it felt like that zip and infectious enthusiasm in his play, which was a big part of his quality when he first arrived, had waned after a few years.

He would have been sensational under Eddie imho. I love the bloke. Good luck to him for sure.

It was only 6-7 games but that run of Almiron left, Perez right and Rondon up front was beautiful.

100%

The three centre-backs, Lejeune and Schar playing out from the back either side of Lascelles. Was so good.

Funny how systems can just click under quality managers. Take the similar sort of game spell under Keegan where we only had 3 players with any legs (Enrique, Beye & Martins), a midfield of Geremi, Butt and Barton with Owen just off Viduka and Martins. On paper and going by how those players were going, nothing should have worked, but it was a thing of beauty. The Spurs 4-1 away is still the greatest away performance I've seen, should have been about 12.

when he first started playing kids footie, he would pull his socks up over his knees just like ayoze.

I think Leicester criminally underused him under rogers. When he did play he was played all over the shop.

It was a big fee he went for, i don’t think he was ever in that category, although he certainly had his attributes.

What worked for him here was the low expectations based on arriving for 1.5m or whatever that silly fee was. He always over delivered for us based on that.

Only been to one game at SJP in my life but there was a moment where Ayoze received the ball in the center circle and turned the defender. Never heard a louder roar in my life.

The team was kind of built around him during his last two years. Going to Leicester was a mistake from a footballing POV.

Was an extremely gifted player, mentally just not quite good enough. Didn’t have that desire seemingly to be the best

Based on what? Being too casual?

Based on the fact that he blew hot and cold and went missing. He was my favourite player here for some of his time and I love his game but if he’d had the drive and motivation to be the best he would have had a different career
