U2
Did he make it through the first day in one piece?
M1tche
Still think he will be class of us, IF he can stay fit for a big part of the season. Thats a massive IF though

Dave
Hope we sell him while he could conceivably sign a piece of paper.

Yorkie
I doubt he'll ever have the physical attributes required to be 'class' for us, but who knows? We may yet have a fairly decent option/back-up for the number 10 position. I have faith that Rafa can improve just about anyone. Not Riviere.
nufcjmc
Rather see him gone too unreliable for us to take up a squad place unless it got colback shifted then give the lad a shot
Skeletor
Looks like he's had a hair transplant whilst he's been away. Surprised that didn't put him in a coma.
Darth Crooks
Funnily enough he's not actually walking in that photo. His bones and muscles have solidified a la Stephen hawking
duo
Did he actually play when he was on loan? And I mean for the 90 mins and stay injury free?
hakka
Did he actually play when he was on loan? And I mean for the 90 mins and stay injury free? Nope, not even once. He was injured on every appearance.
Benwell Lad
One of the great recent disappointments. Based on what some people in the Netherlands told me when we signed him I thought we'd bought someone who could be a top PL player and then it just didn't happen ?? AyeDubbleYoo
He's right up my street, unfortunately he got hit by the bin lorry and some scaffolding fell on him.
Odear
Looks like he's had a hair transplant whilst he's been away. Surprised that didn't put him in a coma. The De Jong's
mrmojorisin75
would go out of my way to bin him personally but would rather see a fit siem de jong in the #10 spot ahead of anything else we have atm
Fenham Mag
Just sell him and get Ben Arfa back in the #10 shirt. It'll be cheaper.
Sir Toon
De Jong was never all that but stood out in pre-season in a contained Pardew era that was as dull as dish water. The same with Aarons, any kid that took on a player would always look good in a side with no creativity.
mrmojorisin75
he's a technical dutch player who knows how to use space, get in between and get on the end of stuff in or around the box...basically many of the things our #10's didn't manage to do last season shame he'll never stay fit
Odear
It really is a shame, he's the type of player that could be perfect for this league if he could get a run of games and toughen up a bit. I don't think anyone has ever doubted his footballing ability
AyeDubbleYoo
I'd love it if he could play this season, he's a better option that anyone else we currently own. Nobody would back that happening though obviously.
STM
Rafa didnt see him as useful for the championship, so I doubt he will use him this year. The same goes for Saivet and Riviere. They will be sold. The only chance De Jong has, is if Rafa is impressed by his determination to get back into the squad.
AyeDubbleYoo
Rafa didnt see him as useful for the championship, so I doubt he will use him this year. That was just because of his recent injuries though no?
HawK
Rafa didnt see him as useful for the championship, so I doubt he will use him this year. That was just because of his recent injuries though no? I've always been in the camp that a match-fit Siem de Jong could be very useful for us, hoping he'll do good for us as that fulcrum behind a lone striker that links everything up, every time I saw him play he showed good technique, control and quick feet. His injury record has been absolutely horrendous. I don't think a season in the Championship, recently back from all his injuries, would have helped him at all. Playing at a more sedate pace abroad might have helped his recovery and building of match fitness. If it was that Rafa rated him, I think he took a calculated risk that he could be useful if/when we were promoted and wanted to have the opportunity to see him fit for this pre-season. Lots of wishful thinking, but he looked good enough before we signed him and match fitness aside (missing easy chances), has imo looked classy. Tooj
He's a leader as well which is another positive if he can stay fit.
